Forums - Gaming Discussion - 360 to rule the Summer - PS3 AAA's not out till Sept!

Shadowrun looks to be a disaster and the company is gonna shut down after its release.

Mass Effect looks to be the only important exclusive to me and that was supposed to come in Spring not Summer..

What are these strong Nintendo exclusives that are coming in the summer???

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

does nintendo really need strong exclusives this summer to sell well?

to answer the question though:

  • Super Paper Mario
  • Project H.A.M.M.E.R.
  • Manhunt 2 (next-gen exclusive, if that counts)
  • Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree
  • Pokemon Battle Revolution (mostly for being the first online game)
  • Battalion Wars 2
  • Mario Strikers Charged

Idunno which ones of those you consider big, but they are some of the exclusives coming this summer.

Eventually, it will need strong exclusives to push it. It won't keep selling this well without them.

Super Paper Mario comes out this week, so that's not exactly summer.

I wouldn't be suprised if Mario Strikers Charged, Manhunt, and Project Hammer were pushed back until the fall just like Mario Galaxy and SSBB.

Big Brain Academy will probably be a good title to pick up for people who already have a Wii, but it probably won't be as big as it is on the DS.

Battalion Wars 2 still does not have an official release date.

just for the record, I do not count Manhunt 2 considering every PS3 can play it...since it's on the PS2. Granted, playing it on the Wii is probably more fun and should look better.

And Manhunt 2 is coming out for the PSP as well....so not an exclusive is it.

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

Thats in Europe....

" Sony Europe's "semi-official" blog ThreeSpeech has posted an interesting rundown of 2007 releases for the PS3.

[...]

Fall. Only one, Lair, has been given an official release date by Sony America. SCEA says it'll be coming in July, so a September release date for Europe seems about right. Killzone has yet to make a public appearance since it's infamous E3 2005 showing. "

I think (hope) that Lair will be in July for Europe too, as Sony will need a game out in the summer, so I would guess that Lair will come out at around the same time in mid july.

I would guess that Sony are going to group most of these releases around a price drop, to take the attention away from Halo 3. However, all these games will come out before GTA IV, as releasing any game around then would be suicide.

"When contacted for comment by GameSpot, a Sony representative pointed out that Three Speech is a semi-official blog handled by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and said the only game on the list with a confirmed US date is Lair, which should arrive in July."

All the dates that are listed is for European releases. Everything in the US is TBA 07.

if all those games do in fact come out in the same month, that has got to be some kind of record for number of "big name" first party releases in a non-system-launch month. There's a psychological theory out there that if you present someone too many choices they get confused and sometimes don't make a decision at all. I think i'm gonna be feeling that way come September especially when I know that I can also get Assassin's Creed, MGS, GTA, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Unreal Tournament, or Half-Life within a few months. When you take into account the exclusives from Nintendo and Microsoft, could this possibly be the strongest Fall season lineup ever?

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

September will be good for PS3...

what makes you think 360 will rule the summer though?

 Mass Effect, Shadow Run, Forza

3 big exclusives all over the summer months

I may be wrong but isn't shadow run on pc? I don't know how that is an exclusive. I am also hearing terrible stuff about shadow run. Mostly, how it made most of the dev team left. I did enjoy there last game, crimson sky so I'm most likely going to buy shadowrun.
