I just received an email from one of the largest local retailers which has some very surprising news inside, apparently Microsoft has informed local retailers to stop accepting pre-orders for the Kinect due to international product shortages.

So in a nut shell if you haven’t pre-ordered your Kinect yet then there is a big chance that you won’t be getting on at launch and there are no longer any guarantees that you will be getting one for Christmas.

 

Of course we don’t know if this means that Microsoft isn’t releasing enough stock into the retail channels or if the demand is just simply greater than the supply which is exactly what every new product wants to happen.

Hi Gavin,

Just to let you know.  Our supplier has now asked us to remove the Kinect from pre-order, since Microsoft informed them there is a world wide product constraint and they don’t know who will get stock.





Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Why spend 500 million on Kinect Launch when you have No Kinects to Sell 

More like Fail more like it. MS, you should know something called "Impluse buying", its what's driving 3D TV sales at the moment. The Kinect is like an 3D TV.

Yeah if theyve sold out already they should pull as many ads as possible and try and save some of that 500million, then spend it when they actually have stock to sell.

We only need to see if the current pre-ordered number is high or low.

 

I remember shortages on the 360 launch. But those were ridicule shortages with a very low number of consoles sold.

Ask me how long I waited to get my launch 360 even though I pre-ordered long in advance - Never mind I will tell you MARCH! and even then I had to change my order to a more expensive bundle. The robbing retail bastards.
