Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why do most video games release on Tuesdays?

I know its a dumb questions but i have always wondered about this. For me it would be awesome if video games released on saturdays or sundays. Thats when i don't have to be worrying about school and i can actually go to midnight releases. I know sometimes nintendo releases games on the wekkend. I think i remeber nintendo releasing BRAWL on sunday and it was a midday launch. Explain

P.S.

It would be awesome if GT5 released on a saturday!

Usually because retailers recieve the games on mondays.

are you sure? Dont most reatilers have the game a week in advance?

Think it's something to do with that being the slowest retail day of the week in America, thus release all Games and DVD's that day.

Who knows? Why are comic books on Wednesdays? Only new movies releasing on Fridays makes much sence.

its the way things are

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

i dunno...

My store gets most of our stuff the Monday before unless it is like Reach or something huge

Because DVDs come out on tuesdays.

I think there are a variety of reasons, one reason I have heard is that Tuesday and Wednesday are the days that stores are the least likely to be closed. On top of that, if the publisher aims to have the game delivered on Monday then there is some padding for late shipments without risk of missing a release date.
