Forums - Sony Discussion - Are you truly a Gran Turismo fan? (a rant, sorry)

Welcome to the Gamers immaturity. This is pretty common for the fans on the industry, but there is a movement of growing up.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Your post reeks of arrogance, and you don't seem to acknowledge the fact people are genuinely annoyed by the delays.

arrogance = yes. i apologize but that was my exact intention.

everyone is annoyed by the delay. but does a "real fan" cancel his order just because of a delay? will you not go to the concert anymore just because it was delayed?

the answer to that is, sure you're annoyed, sure you're gonna cancel your order, and that's fine.. just don't call yourself a "real fan". i'm personally offended when i see all that in the same sentence.

Then you need to get your priorities straight.

it's not just GT, friend. being a fan of something is a special thing.

people work hard on these things. game developers spend countless hours trying to make games that are so good such that people turn into "fans". singers, movie starts, artists, refine their craft through so much hard work so that people will like them more.

i just hate it when people claim to be "fans" and just jump off at the first sign of trouble. i'm a fan of a lot of things. i treat that as not just some passing fancy or fling. i appreciate their hard work and i don't like seeing all that being spit on by a bunch of people who can't appreciate all their work.

i 100% agree with you bugrimmar

Once again, get your priorities straight.

You act as if you're the only one who appreciates the work that develops put into their game.

You make yourself out to be this super-fan who truly understands the blood and sweat and put into games, and when compared to people who you think are worthless peons for their casual care of the games made, your pride is hurt.

Your fandom is no more important than anyone else's, so step off your pedestal and come back down to earth.

Oh, i'm only comparing myself against those who suddenly "canceled preorders". i'm not trying to compare myself to anyone who "didn't" do that. i don't understand why you're coming off all defensive here. well whatever your reasons are, if you aren't a true fan, you wouldn't understand.

my priorities are fine, thanks. if you also understand the blood and sweat put into games, then you're welcome to create your own rant or rave, whatever you want. i'm merely focusing my attention on a specific group of people who are obviously "fake fans". i'm obviously not trying to demean your fandom by showing off mine. i'm only trying to demean the fandom of "fake fans". if you're not a "fake fan", you shouldn't be attacking me.

anyway, i don't need to explain my priorities to you. you aren't my father, obviously. i appreciate the honesty, but sorry, this is just the way it is. i didn't mention any names, so there's no need to feel angry unless it hits you right at that spot. i'm dropping that subject now.

edit: oh and if people want to cancel their preorders, that's fine and dandy. i don't mind. i understand that the delay sucks and there are other great games out there. but if people want to do that, they shouldn't be calling themselves fans. that's all.

You're wrong, my friend. Go to GTP and you will see a lot of people who feel the same way. Those people participated indirectly in the development of the game, considering PD takes feedback and suggestion from there. You are the one who should "step off your pedestal and come back down to earth", with all due respect.

Yes I am. And I'm not bothered by the delays. GT5 will be even greater because they took their time.

Yeah, and if that same concert was announced in 2006 would you honestly still be stoked if in 2010 it was still being pushed back?

If this kind of thing upsets you, then that's your problem not theirs.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.
