Scientists weren't wrong, people have always known this... the groups that think the world will end just tout the closest date. Then when it comes out untrue, they move to the next one.
Double click Windows' clock. Keep raising the year. This is what'll happen. As soon as 2099 ends, we'll just go back to 1980. Maybe that has happened already. No way to know.

This is so true. The world should've ended 100 times by now.
Seriously, why do people care about this stuff? The world (Earth) will end when the Sun explodes a long long long time from now.

Is this connected to Gamestop having Gran Turismo 5 as January 1, 2011?

Yeah, this is what I don't get; everyone is acting as if the Mayans predicted that the world would end when all they really did was make a calendar that stopped counting in 2012. Maybe if their culture had persisted, they would simply make a new one for a new era? Kind of like our BC and AD counting.
This feels kind of like the Y2K phenomenon all over again or all those religious nuts commiting mass suicide because the Lord was coming down to end the world.

It must be. Now our only hope is that Sony is publishing the apocalypse as well.

Wait, do you mean publishing DURING the apocalypse, or the apocalypse is actually a TITLE they are publishing? If Sony is publishing it, that means it is the end of the world for Sony fans, and I guess Nintendo and Microsoft fans are safe
