Forums - Gaming Discussion - Kinect's launch titles: doesn't look good

Why haven't I even heard of half those games?

I googled/youtubed Fighters Uncaged and I understood why they were kept in the dark ... the games' controls (at least FU) look terrible!

Listen to the comments he makes halfway through the video. I'm not impressed.

I notice this doesn't work that much different than just pushing a button. For example instead of pushing a button to kick, you raise your leg = push button X= kick in game. You basicly pushing big invisible buttons.

Another thing I learn from playing table tennis with Move... it's a lot harder than playing  IRL. IRL I only have to keep my eye on the ball since I know exactly where my paddles is all the time. With Move I have watch the ball and the on-screen paddle. 1:1 motion controls is not as fun as I thought it would be at least not for sports.

To me, it looks like Microsoft is Cargo Culting Nintendo. Seriously, I think I've seen most of these games on the Wii before. And that is Kinect's greatest weakness. Casual gamers, by default, won't have a 360, so they'll have to spend well over $300 to start playing. I doubt that the current 360 fanbase will make Kinectimals a bestseller. The Wii has never cost more than $250, and has cheap-ass games like Wii Play that are essentially $10 expansion packs for Wii Sports that come with an extra controller. Kinect itself is good for two players, but good luck convincing a casual player to spend $50 on something available a few years ago on a cheaper system.

On the brighter side, Dance Central actually looks like a decent game to me. I hope it does relatively well.

Love and tolerate.

To be entirely blunt, that list demonstrates exactly why third party publishers struggle on the Wii and will struggle to be successful with any of their "Casual" efforts ... The vast majority of those games are similar to multiple games on that list, and are (most likely) cheap, poorly made, clones of popular games on the Wii.

If they are selling that thing for $49.99, then it deserves to fail. Very badly. The lag time is awful. I certainly hope that it's just because of the "limited development time" the guy was talking about.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

not many games on that list interest me...

Wow I never even looked at the launch titles like that. The only one that looks even remotely good is a game I would never play. Some of the new ones announced at TGS might be decent though. Also look at that amazing 1:1 tracking in that video.

If I had to choose one game, I'd buy Sonic Free Riders because it's the closest thing to a hardcore game.

The rest is just sports and fitness games, so it has to be disappointing for those of us who don't want to move that much in front of the tv, or be reminded of how many calories to lose and whatnot. :/

Fighters Uncaged looks awful. :/

The only people who think that list is a fail are people who don't know what has been selling on Wii and DS.

Fitness games = Money

Sports mini-games = Money

Dance games = Money

Pet sims = Money

In terms of sales, Microsoft has all it needs for the target Wii/DS demographic. I think we're talking predominantly about quality, though. There are only a few quality titles on that list.
