How does joy ride seem like a big addition to the genre lol. Didn't that game start out being free, but then they decided to make you pay for it? Is it the controls that make it special? If it is, I have yet to see it working, but then again, people only post videos of kinect not working. That list is utter rubbish to "hardcore" gamers around the world.

They turned Joyride into a full game, and the Wii proves that "hard core" gamers are a minority. This will be a cash cow for MS.

From the demos I saw Joyride doesn't look very casual ... looks harder than a more hardcore sim like GT5.

Now when it comes to dancing and exercise , Kinect will be a huge success yet that success doesn't mean much to us gamers. It's the same with Blu-Ray player on PS3 was a success but that success came with a high cost to gamers which probably the main reason PS3 is in third place.

It was origionally going to be a casual, and believe me, it still is, not so much now that they extended it, but nowhere near the Forza3 hard core.

Regardless of the amount of sales, that does not mean the games will be by any means good. Look at wii play for example. Sucked, but went on to sell millions. I was argueing the quality of the games. Sales do not equal quality.

Ah, but quality does not = fun. Sales are an indication of how fun a game is, and that is the reason games exist. So, quality be damned, money is the end game here.

Sales certainly aren't an indication to how fun a game is anymore than sales of a toy are an indication of what is a 'better' toy.  Sales are a mixture of advertising, hype, consumer interest, right place-right time, etc.  Fun is subjective.  I bought Modern Warfare 2 because of hype, advertising, etc and I absolutely hated it.  Game was very average.

This

Edit: I believe sales equal how fun it appears to be if you want to bring fun into it.

Kinect will likely end up like the wii. The problem with the casual crowd is that the buy maybe 3 or 4 games max per year. I have a felling that the 3rd party devs will also have trouble with kinect. Even hardcore games will end upp having trouble with kinect. Sure it will get a lot of sales in its first year or so but it will just end up like the wii (which i have one game for and is sitting in the closet).

Contrary to your belief, you are in a minority. The average amount of people playoing that game at any given time prove my point. people don't buy a game because it was shoved in their face a million times, they buy it because they believe it will be fun, hype is a measurement of that number. Marketing simply gets the word out there. Me thinks you have a skewed perception of reality in this dept.

So I just got a Kinect today and I couldn't be happier. I'm amazed at actually how much fun this thing is. Kinect Adventures had me laughing so hard today. The living Statues are AMAZING.
