If it's a laptop, the lcd is busted or PC video card. The lines and crashing happened to a laptop I had twice, there was leakage that spilled into the circut that eventually shorted them out.

try with another graphic card, by the problem you told, this could be a video memory problem, try with other graphic card, and if it doesn`t work, start to look at the PSU, and then the mobo.

Ok I believe it's an antec true power 650 Trio

haven't read all the responses but I'm going with one of two things

1) PSU - PSUs are the #1 (by far) reason for a PC to die. They are also the #1 overspec'd item in most PCs (hey, why sell a sufficient 500W supply when you can sell a 800W supply for a lot more and all the gamers think they need it). They fail the most often and cause all sorts of weird problems that aren't really explainable. My PSU failed once, which convinced myself and the tech support to think it was the mobo. Replacing the mobo did nothing and it was really the PSU which fried 2 mobos. If you have a spare one, swap it out to check.

2) Graphics Card - This is my second guess and the one I'm more leaning toward due to the lines on the screen. I had one die and I couldn't figure out what was wrong with the PC. Similar no video output. I had to reset the mobo and put a new graphics card in and then it finally booted up properly.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

So this guy I've been talking with on tomshardware asked me what the psu was.

And then told me it was definitely the PSU once I told him it was Antec.

ANTEC!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm coming to get you!

Most likely the video card is your issue there. I've had kind of similar issues in the past and an old 7600 GT was to blame.

Edit - beaten right away if PSU is the issue. You can learn something new every day I guess! But Antec is so them reliable anyways so you better have this checked out twice!

I'm gunna go home tonight, pull everything out except the RAM, and one HDD (and CPU obviously). If it works, then it's the PSU. If it doesn't, I'm going to have to start thinking about buying all new parts.

If it's the PSU, then I'm gunna hit BB and try to get a new one working, and if it does, I'll order one off of tigerdirect.

If that's really the issue I see no reason for you don't to go with Antec again. From my own experience I can say they're pretty alright. Well, at least as long as you keep max power consumption below 75% of their output, for is better safe then sorry

This guy was telling me that corsair is a very good brand for the same price give or take 10 bucks.

The model I'm looking at is HX650, it's a "single-rail" and uses Japanese transistors, which this guy says are the best things to look for in a PSU.

When I get the money, I'm going to look into a UPS as well.
