Forums - Gaming Discussion - "Embarassing" Kinect Interview

This is an interview done by Benzaie of thatguywiththeglasses.com

http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/bt/benzaie/dg/28141-embarrassing-kinect-interview

Now the interview isn't really anything to write about, regardless of how awkward the PR guy seemed.  No, what stuck out most in my mind from that video is the Harry Potter gameplay.  I don't know.  An on-rails adventure game just doesn't seem up my alley.  Not sure how many people would be into that sort of thing, either.  And that's not even mentioning how inaccurate and laggy the spell casting was.

What do you guys think?  Is this going to be the norm?  Or is it the exception?  And if it is the norm, will it hurt Kinect's sales' legs?

Watching with sound turned off cos I'm in a computer lab at uni and didnt bring headphones

1) Paranormal Activity 2? Fuck yeah, the first was really well done, although I hope the second stays true to its roots, ie suspenseful horror, rather than the shit that most high budget horror movies pull. I'm writing this while watching the PR guy talk.

2) That Harry Potter game looked like pure shit. There was a lot of lag at times, much more than could be accounted for by hardware problems, we know Kinect can do better. It was purely replacing button mashing with flailing and the actions of Harry seemed to be completely unrelated to the actions of the woman. Again, completely due to the coding and nothing to do with hardware capabilities. This is exactly why MS is bring Kinect out now, as opposed to as the launch controller for the 720, devs need to learn how the fuck to make good games.

the response at the end, I couldn't stop laughing.

CPU: Ryzen 7950X
GPU: MSI 4090 SUPRIM X 24G
Motherboard: MSI MEG X670E GODLIKE
RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM 32GB DDR5
SSD: Kingston FURY Renegade 4TB
Gaming Console: PLAYSTATION 5

LOL is it just me or does that harry potter game look like a fishing game. The way it's being played at least. Horrible lag too BUT it's HP...I think it has the potential to sell well

1.  Lol, I take it that was the ad you got before the vid.  I keep getting one for the Scion.

2. I do believe Kinect can do better, but how much better I have yet to see.  I mean Kinect Adventures in the same vid was definitely better, but there was still noticable lag within the game when he shifted his body, as well as his jumps.  And this is a MS published game that's supposed to show off the cameras capabilities.  I just don't see why the games should have this much lag if progression through the levels is on-rails.

1) Indeed it was

2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REnYXw-Fbq4 - is better than the Kinect Adventures footage for lag.

To be fair to the Harry Potter game I thought it was cool that if you put up both hands she cast a shield spell. It was some good gesture usage. If that's the same on-rails harry potter game we saw last year then it should be fine for the casuals. You cast by flicking your virtual wand, it's not suppose to be accurate like pointing a gun. It'll probably be a lot of fun.

They should have used a native English speaker though....

No offense, but still believe a lot of what MS actually showed on stage was, well, staged.  I have seen some footage where people actually got to play a real demo of Forza behind scenes and there was a little more lag than that.  The head motion portion was missing, as well.  And the fact that the steering is assisted in the corners kinda shows that Kinect isn't responsive enough for the type of accuracy needed for cornering.  Actually, I just found it again:
