I just got the game last week and since then I've probably spent about 75% of that time playing it, and this is coming from someone who normally has a short attention span when it comes to games. I've recently collected a pretty nice stockpile for arrows, iron, and gold, although I'm still pretty low on diamond. I've built a huge castle with 3 levels of stone wall, a huge courtyard, and a 3 story building within the walls. I've also completed a moat around my castle (which wasn't easy and took a LONG time). It was pretty much impenetrable from the getgo but I just keep adding on to it, cause, well, I can.. My next task is to create a farm, as I am burning through the ham pretty fast and it's getting repetitive to kill all those pigs. Peta will be pleased to hear about my farm.. I also am looking to build a tower for sniping and a pyramid. I am essentially industrializing the entire island I am on. One of my biggest goals is to find a dungeon/spawner as I have mined far and deep and have yet to find one.. All this and I have barely ventured from my main island yet! This game could theoretically last me forever!

I'm so interested in seeing what other people have done in this game. Could you make a tour video? Failing that can you take some screenshots of your game and post them, that would rock.

Also creature spawners are pretty cool, just pray you don't get a skelly archer one. OUCH! lol.

This is my video of me tangling with one. If you want to feel the experience for the first time in your game then don't watch this video till after you have found one but this one spawn almost on the surface of the game. Was a VERY shallow cave, wich I though would never happen. Well live and learn I gyess.

My roommate uses a skeleton archer spawner for infinite arrows. He designed this thing around it so they get trapped and fall onto cactuses. Then water carries the arrows into a little collection bin for easy pickup. It's pretty nifty.

Oh wow i gatta go on youtube and learn how to make one of those, no joke. Does your roommate make videos?

Nah, no videos. Next time he's playing I'll try to get him to take some screenshots. It's simple enough that you could probably figure it out just by looking at it.

Yeah for sure, I was thinking about making a video for awhile to show off my castle, there are a few things I was thinking of adding first though to add to the epicness of the castle. I enjoy watching other vids too, gives me some ideas of what to build in the game. If you haven't already, I'd also reccomend checking out X's adventures in Minecraft, the dude has a pretty sweet mining complex he made. I've spent hours watching his vids.

I see you found a spidey spawner, niiice. I FINALLY found one myself, also with spiders. Mine took a hell of a longer time to find though. I guess the key is to just mine in those massive caves that go over the ground, rather than dig straight down like what I was doing. I'm just thankful the one I found was spiders and not skeletons, I probably would have been slaughtered. I was pretty unprepared when I found it.

My only real problem with starting up minecraft would likely have to do with my problem with Animal Crossing.

My girlfriend LOOOOVED Animal Crossing....

and I really enjoyed it too.... except....

I made myself a kickass house I liked.... and I was happy with it.

I upgraded my house once, and I had everything I needed... heck I had everything I wanted.

I was content with my virtual life... completely.

So I was done.

A bigger house just meant i'd have to fill it with stuff I didn't like as much just to fill the rooms!

More clothes just meant I had to change more often to make use of the stuff I didn't like as much!

Even MMO games are built around the wolrd being a part of you.  Rather then you being a part of the world.

I have no desires to live like a king.  More just like a middle class person with a maid.

I suspect in minecraft i'll build myself a modest little place and be happy.

some people don't even do that, they just build a boat and sail the seas...

Ha believe me that's what I thought too, but the next thing I know I have a giant 8 level castle with a moat, a massive pyramid, and and endless network of mineshafts.

Something about this game just entices me to keep exploring caves and collecting valuable resources, at which point I take those resources and put them towards my ever growing castle, which makes me more bold and want to explore further, and the cycle repeats..
