Forums - PC Discussion - The Semi Official VGChartz Minecraft Thread

Ok so Minecraft you guys know what that is right? If not you should educate yourself by heading over to https://minecraft.net/ or you know use google like a normal person.

But basically Minecraft is an incredibly popular game about breaking and placing blocks. Like all good games this basic premise has evolved into a wondrously complex world of wonderous creativity, adventure and discovery. The community around the game has achieved wondrous things from fully functioning virtual CPUs to scale recreations of the Enterprise and even entire cities and more real and fantasy. And if you are not into great feats of engineering and design there is still plenty of fun to be had in Minecraft both singleplayer and multiplayer. The game offers infinite possibilities with procedurally generated worlds full of things to discover, whether you want to delve into the depths, build and cultivate, or just roam the country side. And even if you grow tired of the constantly updated vanilla game there are a wealth of user created mods of great variety to add spice to your adventures.

VGChartz also has it's very own sever hosted by goddog. If you want to jump in and play with some fellow forum members you can access the server via nibirucraft.dyndns.org and be sure to message goddog or thetonestar for building privileges once you are there. Once you are there pretty much any open spot should be good to build.

Minecraft is available for PC/MAC (where it's closing in on 10 million sales) and in lesser forms on XBLA and iOS/Android. And can be found at https://minecraft.net/ or on the relevent app stores.

I heard of the older version from

http://www.1up.com/do/feature?pager.offset=1&cId=3177782

Didn't like it, but a nice fully featured version on steam would definetly get my money.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

it has defiantly changed since then there are monsters at night for a start, also there are more things to craft etc. The game is not for everyone a lot of people need a clearly defined structure to have fun. Minecraft is true sandbox game and has no defined goals. Everything you do is because you feel like doing it. But even if you don't like playing the game you can always just marvel at the insane things people have made, like the working computer and the model of the USS enterprise.

The guy who makes the game does plan to eventually make a full featured game with co-op survival, fort wars etc in the future. And is currently setting up a company so he can higher some people to help him develop the game.

Also I just checked the stats page http://www.minecraft.net/stats.jsp and 308,026 people have now bought the game (for ~10 EUR) so the game has now had a gross take of over 3 million EUR! holly crap.

http://www.minecraft.net/ the official site is the only place it's sold as far as I know. there are no official system requirements but the game is hardly a massive resource hog, it can even be run in a browser thanks to the fact it's programmed in flash. you may wan't to try classic to see how it runs before you drop the money on it if you are worried.

How much it costs?

Doesn't it get boring after a while?

10€ - $ 13.80 US - £ 8.72

doesn't everything? If games didn't get boring then you would only need one. But it's a fun game woth the money IMO and it is only in Alpha eventually it will be a fully featured game and if you wait until then, apparently it will cost ~ 40€.
