Final Fantasy XIII outsold Final Fantasy XII

With this recently discovered fact I have lost hope that Square Enix will go back to the way Final Fantasy XII was with interesting story, good voice acting, non-linearity, side quest, openworld and a real time battle system for Final Fantasy XV

Does anyone else AGREE or DISAGREE that final Fantasy XIII did not deserve to outsell Final Fantasy XII?

Both are pretty bad

Ask me about being an elitist jerk

Time for hype

Completely disagree.

Final Fantasy XIII deserved every single sale it got. It's the best RPG this generation hands down. It's one of the greatest games in the series and one of my top 10 all time games. Why?

- One of the best stories.

- One of the best cast of characters.

- hands down the best battle system in a JRPG EVER.

- Hours upon hours of open world exploration and post-game missions.

- Best graphics I have ever seen an JRPG. And I mean this both artistically and technologically.

Now when I say FFXIII has the best battle system most people tend to not understand just how much better it is. There is so much stuff going on at the same time. All of my characters have maxed out the Crystarium and have the best armor and accessories. Each has their use in a battle. However, I can still get destroyed if I don't approach a fight properly. With old JRPG's, you could reach this level of untouchableness. With FFXIII, the battles never get boring and you're constantly coming up with new ways of doing things.

Also, the fact that FFXIII has passed FFXII in sales also serves as a slap in the face of those who have constantly been nagging about the 360 version. People put their fanboy biases in the way when they play video games. They tried to say that the 360 vesion of FFXIII would cause the game to be dumbed down and wouldn't even sell well. Guess what? The game ended up being one of the best in the series and became the best selling JRPG ever on the 360.

Case closed. FFXIII FTW.

I haven't played FFXII so I can't say. But FFXIII was a big let down for me :(. It's a decent game but I wish it opened up more.

Totally deserved it over Final Fantasy XII. (I wish Final Fantasy IX was much higher, but I guess that is the MGS3 of its group.)

I dont think that FF13 deserved to outsell FF12, but to be fair, FF12 came at the end of the PS2 lifecycle, where as FF13 has been in anticipation for a very long time and FF13 did have $75mil from MS for maketing. and i have expressed much hate about this, its not fair to compare FF12 and FF13, when we know that the director of FF12 left production (rumoured to have been forced to leave) and the game was no where near as good as it could've been, where as the development team of FF13 had complete creative control and still didnt do a good job.

@perpride i understand some people like FF13, but this is why i think it was pretty bad:

I don't know what desearved what sales... I hope at least every game get at least what they put into it, but 7 is one of my favorite games, 13 I couldn't even stomach. It is so bad I couldn't even invest more then 10 hours into it... My opinion of course.

I'm not martin luther king. I don't have a dream. I have a plan

Sell a man a fish you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish you just ruined a perfect business opportunity.

We didn't emerge out of the stone age because we ran out of stones. Its time to be proactive not reactive.

Disagreed.

After the announcement of the 360-version all we heard about the game were things that were deleted or could end up in the form of DLC. So saying the 360-version isn't guilty is BS if you ask me. Sounds a lot like Natal going Kinect ... disappointment after disappointment.

It sold very well because of the PS3-version (more then 73.4%!) without Sony spending too much on ads, the 360-version sold just a bit over 26.6% of the games total sales with MS spending way too much on advertising, lies about exclusivity and a bigger userbase. Kind of sad if you ask me.

Final Fantasy XIII might be one of the best FF's on your list, but on my list it's even below FF X-2 which was the worst by FAR! before XIII came out. That XIII is the best selling JRPG on the 360 says more about the 360's community then about the game. Didn't they get most of the JRPG's before the PS3-users did?

I bet Sazh is the most liked character by the 360-community.
I'll tell you why; He has guns!

Excellent!

FF13 is better than FF12 in almost all aspects, it deserves to sell much more than it! Nice to see consumers echo this statement!

@Acevil

FF6 is the one deserving of more sales.
