Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Ocarina of Time 3DS/N64 Comparison thread

Those pictures that you posted are exactly what I would call a "slightly improved OoT" graphically speaking.

I'm so sorry to disappoint you by having different standards and definitions for such adjectives.

Now, if a remake of OoT looked as good as a PS3 or 360 game, the difference would be substantial. But to me, what you posted isn't. It's unimpressive to me.

Way to make a thread about subjective matters and claim superiority over the case. =P

Why wouldn't a Wii game count? Twilight Princess is a Gamecube game and it looks substantially more detailed.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

it will be nice to play this in 3D :) glad i never bought any of the other ports only got the one with WW so i do not mind to buy this one. now the game looks more like the art from the manual :D

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Makes me want to compare the N64 screens, GameCube screens, and Virtual Console screens of OOT with the 3DS version. But that's too much work.

I'l repost what I had in the other thread

Loking at the first and second screen, the ground textures are roughly the same.

Overall lighting has been improved, small details like flowers and mushrooms added. Character models updated. Higher res textures for everything else.

However, the poly count of the environments seems to be exactly the same as the old version. IMO it looks like this got the Perfect Dark treatment. a "sligghht" boost.

No, there are some improvements. The mountain ridge in the first set is actually modeled, for instance, rather than a flat surface like in the original. The torch in the foreground of the third set is also modeled differently.

That's about it, though.

I'm far from a graphics whore but the upgrade isn't terribly impressive.  Appreciated, yes. Impressive, no.  Problem is it's a port and without a more power engine a few more polygons and some better textures is all we're going to see.

I bet disolitude comes in this thread happily saying how awesome his PC is and with a emulator  he can already play the game in superhighresolution with 3D with his nvidea glasses..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Ofcourse they couldnt uppgrade it too much, the game still have to dish out the 3D effect aswell.

some people...reallyy...

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Before 3D is added, it looks kind of like Majora's Mask level now; which is still, to this day, fairly easy on the eyes. The original Ocarina of Time is still a good game to this day; but the textures are kind of muddy - and I can't find any N64 controllers that aren't broken (is there a way to tighten the analog sticks? All my controllers have loose analog sticks). Can't complain about improvement. The most attractive features are 3D plus portability for one of my favourite games ever.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I second what Gamerace said. Appreciated, yes. Impressive, no.

I should do that!

I can get OoT to run in 2500x1600 widescreen! lol
