Judging from those numbers it looks like we're on the tail end of the generation. We may see a new Wii and Xbox next year or the year after. I don't think any of the fantasies for some that the console generation will last until 2013 without new consoles is going to come true at all. It seems the whole thing just ran out of steam all of a sudden.

As for PS3 sales exploding at $199 that will all depend when that happens. If it happens with no apparent next gen starting than sales may increase. If it is apparent that a new generation is going to start soon then the $199 will be to late to signifigantly move PS3's.

I believe Sony will go to $249.99 before they go to $199.99.  They need to spend some time selling the PS3 for a profit.  1 year from now the PS3 will not be profitable at $199.99.  It should be profitable at $249.99.

new systems before the current hit $149,not going to happen

normally it would happen but because one HD console is still very hgih priced and so the other is dragging along with it,if both were same price then we would have seen a new console next year

they have been selling PS3 for profit,their aim was the blu-ray winning the format war

they will surely drop to $199 next year and even then make profit and it will be profit at that price too

Sports Champs Week 2 > week 1 bodes very well for the holidays for PS3 and Move in EMEAA. Will be interesting to see what happens in Americas this week. Hopefully it shuts up the Move doomsayers a wee bit, at least until Kinect comes out.

WW Move install base could be as high as 500K by the time Kinect launches.

Going to a 32nm production module the PS3 could be pretty much profitable at $199 in one year or so. That's the absolute maximum I think it will reach though.

The X360 and even the Wii shouldn't go below $149 anyways, so it should sell fine.

Depends on store and location. JB HiFi in Wellington is plastered with Move posters and they have a TV set up showing Move videos on a continuous loop. Not a big enough store to have any demo stations set up though.

I see the latest Guitar Hero did better on 360 than PS3. Is it wrong to celebrate that fewer PS3 owners are drinking the Activision Koolaid?
