It's take too long to explain all the technical stuff. I'd rather you research the product for yourself. Then you want have to wonder if I'm misleading you.

Lol I love the 3DS, but besides obvious handheld features like motion and 3D screen, you're full of shit.

Oh! Your last made me have to respond. I do not like to be cusred. Furthermore, does the Xbox 360, PS3 or the Wii have the ability to display a game on two screens? NO! Does the Xbox 360, PS3 or the Wii have a touch screen? No! Do these devices have a built in camera that can be taken any where and used at any time? NO! I just touched on the features/ technology that's in the original DS, not the 3DS. Now shut up and learn how to be less offensive when you type.

Only the early adopters (hardcore Nintendo fans/tech geeks) are going to be picking up a 3DS at $250 US (the likely launch price). The mass market (parents buying the portables for their children) isn't going to bite on a $250 handheld. The DS Lite was popular in large part because it was only $130. I don't know what the DSi and DSi XL figures were like n North America and Europe so I can't comment on whether $170-$200 would be considered the "mass market" range for portables. What we do know is that $250 is way above that "mass market" sweet spot. I know that kids are relatively spoiled these days. But $250 for a handheld is probably way more than a parent would tolerate.

Honestly I think Nintendo could have a financial bomb on their hands. They have all these first-party 3DS games in development. But only the hardcore geeky types (hardcore Nintendo fans 15 and over and tech geeks) with the disposable income to blow are gonna buy the 3DS and buy these games.

Personally Im not going to get this at launch. I like Nintendo's stuff but I am not a hardcore Nintendo fan. Mario, Zelda, Mario Kart, etc. is worth looking into but its not going to make me run out and buy a new system. I bought a DS primarily because it was (and is) an old-school RPG fan's wet dream. Afaik there are no RPGs at launch. And my favorite non-RPG DS franchises (Ace Attorney and Hotel Dusk) arent going to be on the 3DS anytime soon.

Quick question: If the 3DS is released in the US at $250, what price would that mean that it's likely to be sold at in the UK? Obviously a direct conversion wouldn't be appropriate, because it'll be more expensive than that. Thanks xD

~~~~ Mario Kart 8 drove far past my expectations! Never again will I doubt the wheels of a Monster Franchise! :0 ~~~~
yup its too much
The price will just dictate how many units I buy next year.
$299, just 1, $249 i'd think of getting my wife one as an anniversary present.
$249 is a decent price for the value included. Many want to draw the PSP GO comparison, but thats not really fair since Sony was in essence gimping your system for a premium. The 3DS doesnt do that.
$299 is definitely too much for me.
To put this price in perspective, here's a nice cost comparison between past handhelds (stolen from Sankaku):
GB – ¥12,800
GBC – ¥8,900
GBA – ¥9,800
GBASP – ¥12,500
DS – ¥15,000
DSL – ¥16,800
DSi – ¥18,900
DSiLL – ¥20,000
3DS – ¥25,000
Teehee.
All those features that you mentioned are what I bolded above, so you're still full of shit. And this is coming from a guy that's preordering not 1, but 2 3DSes as soon as they're available.
Inflation, ever heard of it? Also the yen is strong as hell right now. 3DS is a bargain, as a matter of fact, if Konami announced a HD Classics remake that included MGS3, I would still get the one for 3DS over the HD one, just for the 3D effect alone.
