I want one with a lot of performance but still good battery power. So a gaming laptop would probably be my best bet right? I want some suggestion and reasons why... I am currently looking at ASUS computers

ASUS or Acer with i5 processor, and avoid shared graphics memory, look for dedicated graphics memory. Google the names of the graphics cards and you will probably find a site that tells you how powerful they are.

I would consider getting a SSD Harddrive if I were to buy a new laptop now. Faster and saves battery. And not that expensive anomore.

i currently have a sony vaio fw and i cant complain about it. its over a year old so i would suggest a newer vaio series computer though.
