Seems like the kind of game Seraphic would like :(

A question...what kind of game is this really?...I´ve heard it´s an JRPG, but I see the mention of 'hack n slash gameplay'...it´s like a fusion of the two genres?

It's an action-RPG. The combat is pretty straightforward, but the numerous amounts of magic you get keeps the core combat interesting. The gameplay changes as you explore through the dungeons: one dungeon turns the game into a 2D sidescroller (action or shooter), another one turns it into a puzzle game, another one into a text-adventure game, etc. It's really interesting.

The main character is not a pretty boy, so he won't like it.

Could you guys explain me more about the battle system? For example, making comparisons? The good feedback in this thread has resparked my interest in the game. :)

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Waiting for pricedrops, but as an ARPG whore AND a demented Cavia fan, I've had my eye on this one awhile.  It's not Cry On, but it's probably got whatever was left of Cry On in it.

Really pleased it become something of cult hit too.  Drakengard was similarly awesome and misunderstood.

Nier is a 10/10 game! :P

Excelent story, beautiful soundtrack, nice characters, lots of side-quests (some of them reveal some nice stories), lot of diversity, 4 different endings... The story will make you want to cry sometimes like MGS4! :O

Nier is the kind of game that will earn a place deep inside your heart and will remain there in your memory forever!

Everyone buy this now! :P this game deserves at least 4x the sales it got!

A banner stolen from some site xD

Release Final Fantasy Versus XIII nowwwwwwwwww!!! lol :P

Is it true this game has a lot of backtracking?...that you visit some of the same dungeons 3 or 4 times?

the main character looked like a retarded caveman so ive never even considered it playing it( and still havent).

If your such a Cavia fan, I'd like to know what your thoughts on Bullet Witch are. I bought it for $5 and it's I have to say that it's pretty shit, but the cheesy dialogue and the promise of crazy anime cut scenes keeps me playing.

OT: I've been wanting to pick up Nier, but I recently just bought a PS1 and a NES, so my gaming budget has gotten much tighter (I've been living off $5 clearance games). It's pretty much between Yakuza 3 and Nier, both look pretty cool, but I have no idea which one is going to be the better game for me.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.
