Glad David Milliband didn't win....he is a supporter of a terrorist organization in my country (who have now been raped and utterly destroyed by our military and seek international support)...

David Miliband doesn't support the Tamil Tigers. He just doesn't want fighting to take place in Sri Lanka.

ORLY ? So he tried to stop our military operation against them when their leader and what was remaining of them were surrounded around a thin strip of land ?

After 99% of their military power was destroyed, he expected our government to stop fighting for the sake of "humanity" ?

I believe he wanted fighting to stop because of the exceptionally poor conditions for the vast number of discplaced people at that point in time.

That does not qualify him as a supporter of the Tamil Tigers.

That was just an excuse to save a terrorist organization gasping for air... its not like the displaced people were getting killed or something...they were given medication, food and water...what else did they want ? A comfy bed to sleep on in the middle of a war ? At that time they were grateful to be alive...

Much of what Milliband heard was false news spread by the Tigers themselves to win over the international community....Milliband fell into their trap easily, and used this whole "defending the displaced" thing as a trick to win over the Tamil emmigrants in the UK...

To be honest, I'll trust the BBC and the UN over a clearly biased Sri Lankan.

... Ed Balls?

It's an unfortunate name, especially for somebody who opposes sex education.

The LTTE have very strong bonds in the international community...I'm not surprised that the Western media and people such as yourself are misled by them..as you can see, these accusations are originated from Tamilnet, a pro LTTE website...when they were getting their asses kicked, and a hefty number of our soldiers also sacrificed their lives to unify the country from the BS racist war.

They made up false rumours to try to win over the symapthy of the international community, and they worked. I'd like to remind you that, Navi Pillay is also tamil, and much like many of the tamil people living overseas, she is misinformed about whats really going on.

The tigers were stuck in a small strip of land, and the war would've been over within 2-3 days had the military shelled and carried out air strikes...however, that would've meant many civilians meeting the end of their lives. Why would the civilians flee to government controlled areas from the LTTE is the military killed them ? The LTTE were forcibly holding them, using them as human shields so that their leader could buy enough time to make the international community apply enough pressure on our country's military operation to be put on hold, so they can regain their strength...

I'm not biased, I'm telling the truth. At the end of the day, now we can walk in our streets with no fear of bomb explosions killing 50-100 people daily. The people who were treated like dogs by the LTTE now live their lives peacefully...finally going back to their professions after 30 years. Child soldiers used by the tigers now attend schools, and our country is now peaceful.

The fact remains that our country carried out one of the few anti-terrorist campaigns...against arguably the most powerful terrorist organization in the world (they had aircraft, submarines and popularized the suicide bombing trick).

No amount of BS by foreign politicians and clearly biased (or misinformed ?) UN persons were allowed to take away that beacon of hope we had to finally get back on track to development and peace.

So yeah, David Milliband sux.

He looks dodgy as hell, like he is coldly planing something evil.

He looks like David Cameron.

Hard to say which one is uglier. David Cameron looks about 20 years older, though.

Brown was certainly left of all Labour PMs since Callaghan (which is to say, left of Blair).

The last elected left-wing PM was James Callaghan

I'm pretty sure Callaghan wasn't elected, he took over after Wilson's resignation.

Anyway, I think Ed has  a good shot at becoming next PM, due to the coalition's current unpopularity.  However, I guess people probably said that about Foot/Jenkins before the Falklands.

No. The news item originates from the BBC and the UN. The BBC mentions TamilNet and also mentions that they are pro-rebel.

I agree that the Tamil Tigers were a terrorist organisation, I just happen to strongly disagree with the Sri Lankan governments treatment of Tamil civilians during and after the war. The reason that civilians were fleeing the LTTE areas was possibly because of the government shelling of said areas.
