I believe Sony unveild a glassless prototype 3d screen time ago and they guy from sony said that they might develop it with an application , I can't think of anything better than the PSP2.

No, they bagged out glassless 3D said it be shit for TV.

Two days later Toshiba said they making a 3D TV without glasses, then a day later Sony said they working on one too lol.

What I am getting at is Sony is not the same Sony they once were. Samsung, Panasonic, LG and Toshiba are killing them in the Home Theater market atm. These brands are becoming more and more popular due to price for what they offer.

It is sad really because they make great gaming but suffered in their other departments which were world standard that everyone inspired to match. That was the trade off they made I guess.

Not a TV , some kind of small screen display , I'll look for it . And yeah glassless tech doesn't work well for big screens yet , BTW Sony is nowhere as big as Samsung , but it's still bigger than the rest .

I'm sure Sony will take Nintendo's tech and 1-up it - that's what they've always done.

But by the time the PSP2 comes out, it won't even be relevant.

Ok.

That's the first time i would agree with Pachter.

Without 3D, the next PSP will have no chance against 3DS. The thing is, imho, before PSP release most 3rd party thought PSP would be like PS, dethroning the Ninty handheld DS. But now, every 3rd party developer will be onboard with Nintys flagship, so it should be very difficult for Sony this time even with 3D.

And without 3D,

epic fail!!!

Agreed.  It'll be like PS2 versus Xbox, no one will care when 3DS already has all the exclusives and most of the multiplatform games.

i'm going to go the complete opposite direction.  don't get me wrong - personally i think 3D is the most amazing thing ever but i've been watching the news reports and box office numbers and things don't look so good for 3D.  consumer interest seems to be wanning.

3DS will probably be successful but imo it will be successful despite 3D not because of it.  i'm not sure what sony should go for but trying out some sort of alternative tech is probably a good idea.  maybe it's just me but i would be interested in a tablet style of device.

A tablet style of device?

But you know, tablet is tablet, not handheld.

And touch screen, you know, is already... just old.

Alternative tech, ok. But i don't know what that tech could be. And 3D without glasses will be epic! consumer interest wanning? I think with 3DS the 3D gaming thing will just start being mass market.

I'd really like if Sony would open up the next PSP and provides XNA-like tools so anyone could develop and release games for it, I think it could provide a healthy boost of nice games, although probably not enough to dethrone Nintendo.

Is there even a doubt Sony would not copy Nintendo again?  Nintendo came out with the first motion control gaming this generation; which is something Sony lacked the balls to do until Nintendo proved it was viable.  Now they'll wait to see how Nintendo will implement 3D on portables (something they scoffed at just like motion control) and copy and paste the success 3DS will be receiving.

I think 3D when it comes to movies and 3D in gaming could be very different experiences. I think the issue you're seeing with box-office 3D stuff is that a lot of it feels tacked on and gimmicky and, quite frankly, not very well done. I believe that if it's utilized well and isn't something that's just slapped on (example: Clash of the Titans wasn't filmed in 3D, they 'converted' it after 3D took off), then 3D might show some real promise. There are many ways in which a game could be positively enhanced with a good 3D effect, and I think Nintendo has the ability to pull this off. Personally I'm done with 3D movies; I've seen a couple of them and I didn't care for the effects, but I'm all for trying out the 3DS and seeing what it can do for games.

Bah!

I would say the reason they don't look good is because consumers are sick of paying ridiculous prices for 3D movies even when they already own dozens of pairs of 3d glasses.

If 3D movies were same price (no reason why they shouldn't be), if you brought your own glasses, things would be looking better.

The difference between 3DS, 3D movies, and 3DTV is that more than likely, the 3Ds will be reasonably priced.
