Dragon Quest X full unveiling with December 2011 JP release date.

This. Also, dates for Last Story, Xenoblade and Arc Rise Fantasia (remember that?) in the EU

Don't you think that 2011 is too late? I'd like it this December, to poo on Kinect and Move. That's be hilarious.

It's probably a 2012 game.

It better not be; because more likely than not, the Wii will be pretty dead by then...

I think they said somewhere it was actually pretty far along (or progressing nicely, or something like that). I expect it to be a 2011 title (in Japan).

Well, I suppose that's better than 2012 no? I'll expect a Spring/Summer 2011 release in Japan, and a Winter release WW. That way, they'll get the console rush, the 3DS buzz will have been subdued, and they can sell it to people (like me) who really enjoyed IX.

If my maths is correct, that = profit

Not going to happen, I think Holidays 2011 is the best case scenario for a Japanese release. The highest chance is 2012 onwards, we haven't even seen a single screenshot of the game and DQIX was released 1 year ago. Besides the gap between main DQ games is this:

There you go, ruining my fun and dreams with stats :(

Anyway, doesn't the FF thing look similar? And aren't FF13 and FF14 being released in the same year?

My point is, maybe, just maybe, they;re being quiet for a mega-surprise for Wednesday. Unlikely, but hopeful...

I think it's definitely going to be sometime in next fiscal year, so April 2011 to March 2012.  Hori did say it was closer than most expect though, and DQX has the distinction of being the only DQ announced before the previous installment was released, meaning there was likely some degree of overlap in development timetables (which hasn't ever been the case for DQ previously).  Also, DQIX was hit with several delays, it was originally planned as a 2008 game.

I don't think they are gonna release it without a TGS showing before. Looks like a 2012 release or luckily a 2011 Holidays release, but that's unlikely IMHO, just 2 years and a half would be a very short span for a main DQ game. I think it's a summer 2012 game.

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.

FF14 is a spin-off, not a main series FF game. FF15 is probably 3-4 years away.

I don't think they are gonna release it without a TGS showing before. Looks like a 2012 release or luckily a 2011 Holidays release, but that's unlikely IMHO, just 2 years and a half would be a very short span for a main DQ game. I think it's a summer 2012 game.

It could still be at TGS 2011, even with a spring/ summer 2011 release.  DQMBRV and DQMJ2 were still at TGS after all, as was DQIX after it's summer release.  Also, Jump Fiesta is a more important event than TGS for DQ, so a debut there instead is pretty likely as well.  Still, it's also possible Nintendo might've asked for it to be held back from TGS this year in leu of their own event.  We'll find out in another 30 hours or so.... exciting!

And again, DQX started development before DQIX was finished, and DQIX itself was delayed almost a year.  Considering that, 2-2.5 years (rather than the usual 4-5 years) isn't really all that unlikely.

DQIX was showcased during TGS 2008, then released later in 2009 and was playable during TGS 2009. DQX doesn't even have an official name or logo. There's really nothing known about it. Plus 2.5 years would be too little time for a main DQ game and hasn't happened since the mid 90's. I think they could be aiming for a 3DS/Wii simultaneous release but that would mean an even further delay.

It's a 2012 game IMO, no matter how hard Nintendo tries otherwise. I'd say it releases after Wii's successor has hit the market.

DQX won't be on 3DS, that's not how DQ works really.  DQXI probably will though.

And you aren't seeming to understand, the circumstances between DQIX/X versus DQIX/VIII or DQVIII/VII or DQVII/VI are pretty dramatically different... this is the first time we've seen two DQ games in development at the same time, and DQX supposedly started development back in 2008 even.  Now obviously, DQIX ran into problems that pushed it back (going from ARPG to RPG, networking issues, etc) and those might've also effected DQX's original timetables (provided it's Level-5 developing both) but it's pretty clear the plan this time around was a swifter release schedule than we'd seen the previous decade for the series.  The frequency of DQ remakes and spinoffs has also increased notably, you can't really look at the series on PS1 or PS2 and try and correlate that directly to where it is now on DS/Wii.   Just like looking at DQ in FC or SFC didn't relate directly to PS1 and PS2.

We'll see soon enoguh I guess (or not), but if there aren't news by end of year, I would suspect the game will not be released before December 2011.

Oh, I'd agree there... if it's going to be, say, summer 2011, I think we definitely need an unveiling at tomorrow's event, or maybe a DQ specific press event in December (like DQIX had originally).  IF not, release in spring/summer 2011 is basically out, and anything before holiday 2011 gets less and less likely.

what i want is asking to much of Nintendo.
