Now that Windows 7 is out, not a whole lot. There used to be many reason to like a UNIX os over a Microsoft product, mostly reliability and driver support. But there are still reasons to like a UNIX based OS over windows. For all those reasons (other then price), OSX applies.
The nice thing about Macs are the OS and hardware are made by the same people, so everything works well together. Again this is less of an issue now days, but still crops up from time to time.
For me, it's all about preference. I just like the OS far better. I like how you navigate between windows better. I like the file system better, I like the quickness of the UI better, and I like the feel a lot better. Ever since Windows XP, I have felt like Windows was a little Fisher Price like. Everything looks a little kid oriented. OSX feels a little more professional.
Lastly, For my living, I am a Microsoft .NET Software Developer. To setup a computer to develop, I need Windows 7, Visual Studio 2010, SQL Server, and some addon tools so VS2010 doesn't suck (Resharper, Ants and so on).
The above list of software is well over a thousand dollars. If you were to set up a new employee with the tools I have, it would cost you over $5,400 and a yearly subscription (my company pays for it, not me). On the Mac, all that stuff is free.
The cost of the iMac with Apples top set of tools, is less then the windows equivalent tools.c. Sure, you can get cheaper versions of those tools. (SQL Express, Visual Studio Express, and so on), but those tools are not the top of the line tools.
Apples gives all it's top of the line tools away for free. So those are some of the reasons I bought a Mac.
