I think he is saying after this year. Third partys have absolutely nothing to cover the months of January-June. Yes, there are titles like Dragon Ques, but who know when it is going out, and I'm not counting titles like Mario Sports Mix, because I doubt Square-Enix begged Nintendo to do that title. It is worse than this year, PS360 had tons and tons of big exclusives in the same timeframe, while Nintendo had to rely on few small third-parties releases. Now it seems they are even more abandoned, relying only in thenselves for Jan-Jun.

What you said about third parties is rigth, if you look at the TGS reports there is not love for the wii at all from them, and I doubt the situation will change anytime soon... But, if we go back to the question, no, the end of the road is not anywhere near to an end... Nintendo is going to keep selling lots of consoles, and it will be bringing more of their old franchises to life... Wii is still selling pretty well, if 3 parties dont want to join their huge fanbase is their problem, thats not nintendo´s nor wii gamers fault... Some 3ds-wii conectivity could make things change a little bit though...

Even if third parties give up on Wii in Japan aside from a few major titles like DQ10, you still shouldn't underestimate the impact of a price cut to maintain what remains of the market. Nintendo doesn't include any games with Wii in Japan, so the Wii at 20,000 Yen is really selling for $50-$100 more than it is in USA, depending on how you value Wii Sports / Wii Sports Resort.

Wii doesn't look like it will ever sell 3m in Japan again, but with what should be coming (Mario Sports Mix, leggy sw in late 2010, Pikmin 3, Dragon Quest X, Zelda, Inazuma Eleven, and the Vitality Sensor game, probably a price cut), there isn't really any reason why Wii can't stabilize at 1.5m - 2m for a year or two before returning to steady declines.

At some point I do think we'll see one or two more big third party projects for Wii in Japan. With DS / PSP set to decline as 3DS arrives, there should be a point in 2011 or 2012, where given DQX and a 12.5m base, Wii might be the biggest RPG / Core base as it will take time for PSP2 / 3DS to ramp up. Kingdom Hearts would probably do fairly well on Wii in this time frame, just ahead or after DQX.

I do think PSP2 is going to be unveiled at CES 2011 or GDC 2011 or Dice 2011 - sometime in Q1 2011, and will probably arrive by early 2012 worldwide...but DS / PSP are going to be pretty dead in Japan after 2011 and 3DS will be just entering its best years so Wii probably becomes the optimal base, by size for a time for a little while in Japan in 2011 or 2012.

People forgetting about THQ with uDraw tablet, that could be a hit, it's pretty interesting and will attract attention.

Could Wii top at least 13M in Japan?

Is it going to Japan?

Above: still the best game of the year.

Do Nintendo even attend TGS? I thought they had their own conference outside of TGS....So why are we so worried about the Wii again? There will be a lot more 3DS support. It's a new handheld console coming out.

We are worried about the Wii because the OP is bored and could not think of anything else to do. Except start one of these threads.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

Yes end of the road for wii but there's a junction on it where will Wii will take take the right turn and drive towards a nice bright future!

I think we'll see a $100 Wii before we get any information on the next gen console from Nintendo.

If DS and PSP are "dead" why are they still getting tons of games while the Wii hasn't had barely anything announced in the past 2 years?

For me, it looks like Wii is the dead console. Going by 3rd party announcements it's a dead console. Getting less games than X360 even. I don't think Nintendo likes the idea of selling consoles only and not getting royalties from SW (aside from their own). That's why they announced a new handheld, even when their current one is actually the best selling console out of everyone.

Anyways when do you expect Nintendo to release their new home console in Japan?
