I hope a demo is released so I can see if it would work on my laptop.

There's one available on Steam.

Concurrent players for Civ 5 peaked at just under 40,000 last night, and that's for the US only. Must have sold a shedload.

if it's your first Civ game or you didn't get a new one since Civ 2, hell yeah get it. If you already own Civ III or Civ IV.... it's not a must have.

My most waited game of the year. So many hundreds of hours I have spent with Civ IV... Damn that they always launch games later in Europe. =(

yeh no crap. Every iteration of Civ has always added better playability and overall experience. I'll probably be picking it up this weekend as there has to be a discount to be had by then.

not really no.

In fact I would recommend the OP getting Civ 2 instead if he doesn't already own it. Unless of course a good presentation is very important to him, then get Civ V

Civ 2? Don't be soft. As much as I enjoyed it (and it's still a damn good game), when you can get Civ 4 for peanuts, then there's really no point if you're a Civ virgin.

If there's a Fry's near you, they're offering it for $10 off.  If there's a K-Mart, they'll charge the full $50, but give you a coupon that's good for $20 off a purchase made in the next 30 days.

I waited a couple weeks and got MetroidOM NEW for $35 on Ebay. That's what I'm look for with this.
