Will GearBox improve on 3DRealms?

Yes 10 66.67%

No 5 33.33%

Total:15

At PAX I went to the Duke Nukem presentation and played the game. During the presentation the rep stated that shortly after 3DRealms went under GearBox hired 75% of the studio. With 75% of the studio GearBox was able to save the majority of the company. GearBox then bought the rights to Duke Nukem.

So the question is will the new 3DRealms (GearBox) be able to improve on 3DRealms prior operations. It took 3DRealms 10 years to produce Prey and Duke Nukem Forever was in development for 12 years, GearBox has one year with the IP and the product is finished and ready for store shelves.

So will the new GearBox be able to produce the Duke Nukem IP? Will the new GearBox build a new IP with the help of the 3DRealms staff? What do you think 3DRealms will add to GearBox?

Well, they can't really do worse after spending nearly 15 years on the same game and then going out of business because of it.

Im afraid this game is gonna bomb.........Hail To the Ex King Baby!!

It would be cool if there was a Borderlands/Duke Nukem crossover

No, I do not think Gearbox are anywhere near as talented as 3DR in their prime.

Well 75% of 3DRealms was absorbed into GearBox. According to the presentation at PAX many of those developers had been with 3DRealms since Duke Nukem 3D. I think that together the new staff (From 3DRealms) and the old staff will make a force to be reconed with.

Also as for the game sucking, I played it for 15-minutes and the game was easily as good as KillZone2, Resistence or any other mainstream shooter with the exception of possibly Halo. I'd even say it was better then FarCry2 and COD:W@W. I doubt you will be dissapointed, it also got a major graphical upgrade since the teaser a few years ago.

Gearbox makes good games, not great ones. And I don't think 3D Realms has what it takes to create a good game these days either. They'll create good games but not great games.
