This is where it stands right now for 2010...

The 360 still needs to sell 440K more than the PS3 to catch up. Even before Reach launches, I think the gap will probably be around 340K.

Anyhow, do you guys think the 360 will close the gap by the end of this month?

Edit: The word was supposed to be surpass... SURPASS.

Well, the 360 sold 196,504 last week so all it needs to do is sell as well as it has and it will have close to another 800,000 in September. I think Halo Reach will sell a lot of 360s so it's possible it will sell close to or even more than 1mill in September. Of course the PS3 will be selling consoles as well so what the 360 needs to do is sell MORE than 440k than PS3 does. If Halo Reach has a big enough effect, I think it's possible.

For me, the japanese market is a non existing market for the 360 and it doesn't affect at all the production of games I'm interested in. So, according to my point of view, the 360 has already surpassed PS3 sales by far...

the 360 has been outselling the PS3 each week by over 50k. Yet after weeks of this, the gap between the two consoles remains at 5.4 million.

So NO, i dont think it will. Hidden adjustments are everywhere, its impossible to know anything. Everyone is just guessing.

Even if weekly sales do add up to pass the PS3's annual sales, there could be huge adjustments down the road of 1 or 2 million in one of the consoles favor.

its happened before, it can and will happen again.

True, but the annual gap does seem to be closing.

I'm just focusing on that right now. I assume there will be some adjustments down the road as well.

Adjustements may come after NPD Data... but no one knoes but for now by the end of the month the gap will be closer that now... 12.5-13M Xbox 360 by years end.

360 is more popular in the west but in Japan... i think is the only country when 360 gets bashed... lol.

Nah. I think the Halo : Reach launch week their is going to be a 80 - 120k difference in favor of the 360. Every other week is going to be around 40 - 50k in favor of the 360.



Who's the best Pac, Nas, and Big. Just leave it to that.

Well if it weren't for Halo Reach and Move, the 360 would probably outsell the PS3 by 50k weekly as an average for all 5 weeks of September (Assuming you meant data until October 2nd). So thats 250k, however sales begin to inflate in September as August is typically the dryest month of the year, so lets say 280k. That means that Halo: Reach needs to boost 360 sales by 160k for the 360 to tie the PS3's annual sales. Judging from most forums, People expect Halo to boost sales by weekly 100k (Probably because of the 100k limited edition Reach 360 Slims). Thats only week one, but I think the PS Move will impact the market enough to offset the two remaining boosts from Halo Reach.

So.. I see the 360 will still be behind by about 60k. It could surpass PS3 annual sales, Halo may surprise me, but I don't think it will be enough to surpass the PS3's annual sales by the end of September 2010.

October 2010 for sure though, probably by the middle of it. Also I'm betting the 360 outsells the PS3 for the rest of the year, so that should put 360 annual sales above PS3.
