There's been alot of hub-bub about the price increase for XBL, but for the most part, I simply shrug it off for several reasons.
- First off, my current membership expires in April 2013, and while I’m not certain as to what M$ plans are for people like myself, I’m banking on the fact that they won’t be able to retroactively go back and charge me more money. In fact, one week from now, I’m going to re-up into 2014, before price increase (average cost is $34-37 for my annual memberships).
- The second option is to simply signed up on the family pack with your buddies. We haven’t seen all the details as yet, but it seems to be the case that it is basically $99 for 4 accounts for one year, which points to a pretty darn low price to re-up. I’m currently contemplating using this, over upping my XBL Gold thru 2014, but I’ve to see a few more details about the program.
So, I kinda laugh when I see all the gripping about XBL taking up the cost by $10 after nearly ten years at $49.99, but of course, if you just don’t like paying for XBL, what does it matter if the price is $50 or $60, you don’t agree with it? What I find hilarious is all the people who griped about XBL for year, jumping on the cloning on XBL on PSN, cheering that on, and making excuses on why THAT is justified. Anyway, if you’re a stupid consumer, I have no sympathies for M$ getting the most amount of profit margin from you. Why does a house in Omaha, NE cost so so so much less than a house on the water in Miami Beach, FL…duh…because people value that house in Miami beach more!
