Forums - PC Discussion - PC gaming hates me and I'm starting to hate it back.

I keep trying to get back into PC gaming, but every time I even try something stuffs up. I recently went on a PC run and bought Tomb Raider: Legend, Hitman: Blood Money, Bully: The Scholarship Edition and Medieval: Gold Edition. All the games worked well (all installed to my hard drive), but Bully is giving me problems. At first the game runs like crap, so I check the net and find out it needs a patch, I install the patch and the game now goes on a loading loop and it never changes.

Elements of Might & Magic was a great game and it did the exact same thing half way through, Crysis won't install because it's missing a sound pack and Resident Evil 4 doesn't have mouse compatibility and the patches don't work. I'm making an effort, but when only 5 out of 10 of my games work properly, it only pushes me away. Help me PC elites, how can I make PC gaming easier (without using Steam).

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

stay away from real shitty console ports would be a good start. Bully and RE4 are notoriously bad ports. I have no experience with Crysis and Elements of M & M so can't really help with those ether.  Well I'm not much help am I...

Works fine for me. It's probably just you. :P

Your OS is probably due for an overhaul. When last you did a re-install?

If you have to blame someone, blame the console developers. They're the ones who make shitty ports:

1- Bully PC is one of the worst ports I've ever seen.

2- Resident Evil 4 PC DOESN'T HAVE MOUSE SUPPORT. Fuck Capcom.

As for Dark Messiah and Crysis I don't know, both are supposed to be done well (Crysis at least). Maybe you OS or your drivers are outdated?

Is your DVD driver OK? Are you sure it's OK? Also, update your drivers. Also, it'll be pretty easy to tell if a game is buggy once you have a little experience, so try to avoid buying buggy games. You can also do some research if you want, though I don't like it and it sounds you like it even less.

Anyway, how long has Windows been installed on your PC without formatting? And do you have many programs installed, do you have a total mess on your HDD? Because Windows will get pretty slow and unstable with time, and plenty of programs won't help it. I suppose this isn't your problem but you should think about it, you are likely to encounter the problem some time in the future if you haven't already.

My only advice is use Steam, but since you don't want that, I'll just slide out of this thread.

Whats your pc specs(and os)...also did you get disc based games or digital dl?

Don't wipe your pc..thats a ''if everything fails'' option.

Also any virus protections running?

Both crysis and dark messiah are buggy and a pain on many types of systems..messiah..gosh..fun game..poor coding, performance, and buggy.

My computers about 3 months old, I'm using Windows 7. How would I do an overhaul and what would that achieve?
