Virtual console game prices need to be halved!

I think the current price is fine 26 32.50%

They should be half of what they are now 36 45.00%

they should be less than half 18 22.50%

Total:80

I can't believe that Nintendo has been charging us for the past four years to download 30 year old games for $5 dollars and N64 games 10 dollars!

You could go out and get a used copy of Madworld or No More Heroes for 10 dollars, or you could by 1080 for the same price and that's just plain wonky.

No NES game should be more than 3 dollars, SNES 4 dollars, and N64 game 5 Dollars at the most.

I was sparked to say something about this because I wanted to play Majora's mask because I never beat it as a kid.  But if I want to play it I have to pay 10 whole dollars, that's way too much money to play a game I already own that game out over a decade ago.  I could just drive up to my parents house, get my N64 and the game and come back hook it up and play it, I would end up spending 10 dollars on gas anyways, but at least then I could pick up some other old games too.  If nintendo really wants the VC to take off they need to lower those prices.  Preferrably to 1 dollar NES games, 3 for SNES, and 5 for N64.  Also I want Dreamcast games and Super Mario all-stars so I can play the graphically superior version of SMB3. >:(

Agreed...

Some of the games are probably overpriced. But many are underpriced.

How else are you going to legally and affordably enjoy many of these offerings?  Unless you are like me and have (a) the consoles and (b) access to an indie game store that stocks cartridge-based games, you really can't.

Most of the time the good games go for 20 or 30 from the indie stores.

I've never seen an old game priced that high.  I bought perfect dark for $2.00, a sega genesis with shinobi 2 and 3, sonic 2 and 3, and bubsy for 20 dollars total.

Precisely. You connected the dots and made my point. That means the VC prices are half what they would be otherwise -- rather than needing to be halved.

They are even more over priced when you factor in Nintendo has said nothing about transfering VC games to a new Wii you buy (you have to call them up and haggle, and get lucky) or possibly the next Wii to come out. It's why I only buyed Castlevania Rebirth (it was cheap and damn good, worth 2x the price). Atleast Sony you can re-download stuff to your future consoles and PSP. I believe MS is set up so when the next XBox is out you can re-download all your games with ease - Nintendo should have allowed people to create gamertags and such to avoid this hassle.

It's just that simple.

The price is fine for me.  A lot of N64 games go between $15-$20 at used game stores, so it's actually a bit cheaper.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

I wouldn't pay more than 3$ for any of these old games. 1.50$ at most for NES games

VC games are not overpriced, full stop.

Ogre Battle 64 costs 1200 Wii points on the Wii shop, which is £8.40 ($12.99) assuming one buys wii points from the shop channel for £14.00 ($21.66) for 2000 points.  On the other hand if one wishes to play the game originally, they would have to import a US version of the game, the cheapest one being £34.95 ($54.06) buy it now as I speak on ebay, and that's with the postage free.

Even for non-import games, the VC is amazing value for money.  Super Mario Bros 3 is only 500 wii points, which is £3.75 ($5.80), however the cheapest one I can find buy it know on Ebay is £10.00 ($15.47) and that's again with the postage free.

To conclude VC games are much much cheaper than tracking down the original games, they are just not as cheap as PlayStation games on PSN.
