Forums - Sony Discussion - No Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep For PSP Go Owners

Most stupid decision. Digital games are much more affordable here in Brazil, since I don't have to pay shipment and taxes, and for the PSP is much better having your games on MS or internal HDD (PSP Go). I don't see the point of not releasing on PSN, giving options to the player is the best situation, but they (SE or Disney, dunno) don't seem to care.

I hope they decide to put it onto PSN. I've got a PSP1000 so I can play it if they don't, but I prefer downloads.

That's 100% selfish and silly. PSPGo is purely optional. There's nothing wrong with Online Distribution if it's not even slightly affecting retail distribution. From since the beginning, PSPGo and PSP3000 have been advertised together. Not as one being the superior product over the other.

"

Annoying someone because they bought a product that you consider bad can never be justified. It's on the same exact level as fanboyism.

How people are actually happy about a certain set of consumers not getting a game because they went with a different option of the same hardware from the same company, i'll never understand. It's worse than fanboyism when I think about.

What if the PSP Go would have been a huge success? Do you really think that wouldn't have affected retail distribution in the future? It's fair to believe that the PSP2 would have had high chances of being digital only as well and that would have been a problem for people like me who are not into digital stuff.

So we are basically glad that the PSP Go failed, not that PSP Go owners are punished.

First of: Do you understand how big of a success PSPGo would have to be in order for sony to phase out Retail? Even if PSPGo was taking up 60% of weekly hardware and software sales, that 40% is still a considerable amount of people that haven't budged. This is AFTER PSP already has 50M HW sales yet people are still buying the old hardware after the new one's being released. Going full digital would be dumber than GTA5 going 360 only... after the 360 version got 8Million sales, 1.5M more than PS3's 6.5M.  That 6.5M is still a huge amount. Even SONY themselves stated they don't expect anywhere near that kind of success.

Why people are so afraid of the PSPGo getting some decent success is beyond me.

EDIT: Forgot my second point

If PSPGo did succeed to the level where online distribution only is justifiable, that would mean that it is INDEED what people wanted considering all the odds it had against it.

Something Sony said about the PSP Go:

"It was introduced in a mature lifecycle to learn more about what the consumer wanted and we’ve definitely learnt a lot. Is that measured by success in sales? I don’t think it is. One of the reasons we launched PSPgo was to understand where that consumer behaviour was going. We were getting signals from consumers that this was the kind of device that they wanted. But we need to recognise that consumers like their packaged media library."

Thank you for reinforcing my point.

"It was introduced in a mature lifecycle to learn more about what the consumer wanted"

"

Amidst trying to understand consumers, they never ignored the PSP3000 in any bit of advertising and on they day and event the announced the Go, the made sure to state that the 3000 wasn't going anywhere. Considering this, and the level of success the GO would need to consider phasing out retail I ask again... what are you people so worried about? If the Go did well enough to phase out retail, no one could argue that it wasn't what consumers wanted.

If  DD were large enough, SE and Disney wouldn't have snubbed it, what happened, together with PSP Go sales, tell us that even given both choices, most people still prefer physical media to DD (and particularly for "important" or full priced games), and people willing to totally abandon physical media for DD only are a negligible minority.
