They did it. SF in 3D which looks like SF. Personally I'm excited. Looks sweet.

The only things this really confirms is that it'll have 2d gameplay, and be released on at least one of the HD consoles. They might be working on a Wii version at the same time, or decide to port it over later.

But holy crap, I'm probably getting it on a HD console anyway if it looks that good. o_O

What would be interesting is if there was a perspective change button. 2D fighting only needs a straight line between both the players. So if there was a button that shifted in the 3d perspective, but kept the 2d line at all times, you could have a 2d fighter thats looks very 3 dimensional. It would be completely aesthetic, but it could provide for some dynamic background work, like if you shift such that the 2 players fight into the alley instead of the street.

 Also I think people are underestimating the wii here.  If SF4 is indeed 2D and looks like the screenshot above and remains in 2d, it can do it easily.

May I ask why you all think it ain't on the Wii?

The "high res" picture is 800x450 pixel, that isn't to0 big for the Wii. And the graphic doesn't look that good to me that the Wii is out of the question.

PS3/X360 will get this game for sure. There is a chance they will provide also a Wii port but it will be definitely inferior version. Like anything what goes multiplatform. If someone own both systems Wii's port definitely won't be a version to pick up.
 
I'd say PS3's users value fighting games the most. If someone really enjoys fighters PS3 is the best choice because of lineup and standard controller. Virtua Fighter 5 port despite being superior to PS3's version pretty much flopped on X360.
