Capcom's retconned the SF storyline so much. I tried reading Alpha/Zero's storyline and was like TOO MANY STREAMS! (plus what happened to Rose, my fav...grrr she's never coming back)

I didn't bother trying with SF3. I love SF3 but...I assumed the story was

Ryu: I'll beat you Ken
Ken: No wai I'll beet u

ROUND 1 FIGHT!

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

It's more along the lines of:

Ryu: Hey Ken, I've heard you've gotten stronger. I'd like to see it for myself.
Ken: Hey Ryu, I have gotten stronger. Shall we have a friendly match for old time's sake then?
Ryu: Yep, you ready?
Ken: Always.

You're not trying to tell me, a long time street fighter fan, that Gouken is a better fighter than Akuma, are you? Akuma is a Ansatsuken master beyond compare! His skill and knowlegde is far greater than any other fighter in the Street fighter universe, and that includes both Gouken and Oro. I doubt Gouken would even be able to beat Gill!

Pretty sure Gen > them both.

Gouken is lame. Akuma owned his ass badly.

Depends on which SF storyline you go by Grandmaster192. In the original story Gouken defeated Akuma but couldn't finish him because it was his brother, when he hestiated Akuma finished him with the "Instant Hell Murder" and his body fell into water below and was never found. Ryu and Ken saw this as they just returned from Ryu's victory over Sagat at the World Warrior tournment and they challegened Akuma. He refused to fight them because they were novices and left.

Now I believe they have ret-conned story. I can't keep up with all the SF ret-cons Capcom churned out. Anyway, I believe the current story has Gouki/Akuma beating Gouken to a bloody pulp and Ryu finding the body. I also don't like how Capcom changed around the first Sagat/Ryu fight. Originally it was a close fight and Ryu narrowly won with a blue flamed dragon punch. Now they ret conned it to tie-in the Evil Ryu storyline. In the current story, Sagat beat Ryu to a pulp. Sagat turns away and thinks he has won but Ryu falls victim briefly to the "Messatsu Go Hadou" dragon punches Sagat defeating him.

Getting back to Gouken. Gouken was always the stronger fighter. He excelled at Ansatsuken much faster than Gouki. Their rivalry was similar to Ken and Ryu's. Gouki began to resent Goutetsu. He should teach them the ultimate killing art. This lead to friction between he and Gouken. Gouki found the technique on his own and killed Goutetsu. Then he tracked down his brother and well the rest of his story happened in game.

BTW Yes I know. I know way too much about the Street Fighter storyline. It was my favorite game series for the longest time, so you will have to excuse me

The evil Ryu storyline was made of FAIL. I liked the old ending of the Ryu/Sagat fight. It fit Ryu's character more.

Though the Evil Ryu storyline gives Sagat more depth.  They turned him from just some evil dick into more of an honorable villain/anti-hero type.

Rumor: New info and pictures from Street Fighter IV leaked

by Hamza CTZ Aziz on 12.06.2007 67 comments

Brazilian gaming blog Blogeek has apparently gotten big news on the upcoming Street Fighter IV game and they are more than happy to share it with the Internets. Check out the translated info below:

The graphics aren't the way they are in the teaser that everyone watched. The game's still pretty, but it has nothing of that ink-splashing or anything. Art direction is interesting. Unlike all the other 3D fighters, SFIV is not meant to be photo realistic.

Street Fighter IV runs at 60 frames per second.

Street Fighter IV will have online play.

The game takes place after Super Street Fighter II Turbo and before SFIII. The good news is that the character roster will be made of many old-school brawlers and some entirely new ones. There are two new girls on the list. We will probably not see any SFIII characters.

The stage you saw at 1Up, if you didn't figure out, is Chun-Li's Stage from SF2.

The excellent Parry system form SFIII is gone. The new system seems to be called Saving or Revenge (we're not sure about the name). We don't know exactly how it works, but it's built around cancels. And we do know we'll have another gauge to activate the Saving/Revenge stuff, besides the usual Super Gauge.

Supers are there (although they didn't decide yet if it will be like in SSF2T or SFIII), and now they've put another moves called Ultras. These makes your character throws a auto combo with tons of moves. It's like a custom combo ... except by the custom part.

Shen Long may appear in the game. We are NOT kidding.

The consoles are not decided yet, really. But, assuming that SFIV will have online play, we can obviously think of Xbox 360 and PS3 (duh). It's very likely that we'll see an arcade version without online mode too, and our sources told us that Capcom could put some test machines in Japan arcades in Q2 next year.

Of course, until we hear something from Capcom or pick up the next issue of EGM, we can't be too sure about this info. So why run with this then? Because Blogeek also provided us with two new screenshots from the game. Looks like a little old blog site got the exclusive before a major publication ... ouch. Of course, there's always that one percent chance that Blogeek has the worlds best Photoshop artist on their team ...

Seems like Ziff Davis was not happy with this info leak.... they are THREATENING the bloggers

Beyond compare? Gouki took the easy way out. Gouken was the better because he took the more difficult path to mastering martial arts. The only reason Gouki isn't dead is because Ryu turned his back on his "evil intent."  Gouki is cool character no doubt and I respect that fact that he only fights those with an exceptional skill level but the strongest fighter in the SF universe is actually Oro. I tend to stick to the pre-retconned SF storyline. That being the case Gouken is stronger than Gouki.

Just FYI, Dimps are made up of some former SNK employees, and was responsible, among other things, for DBZ: Budokai, The Rumble Fish, Sonic Rush, Sonic Advance, and partially Tales of Tempest.

Yup, in the first pageI posted two video about their beat'em up.

Gouken and Gouki were similar like Ryu and Ken. Gouki was impatient and agressive like Ken.
Some of the posts here cracked me up man. N gage exclusive beauty, I'd buy one for it lol!!! And the other Ryu's bulge he must be dreaming of Sagats chest that he split with a punch lmao
