Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Top 10 Put To Shame By Halo Reach

I also think Heavenly Sword beats out that 60 AI on screen point in the article.

I just don't like how it makes it seem like Halo Reach is greater than other Hack and Slash titles or Kart Racers, etc...

Halo Reach has a ton of content and will be nothing short of amazing, but those same genres it is trying to make it appear better than can do things that Reach can't even touch, like assassinations while hanging from ledges. Ability to attack the first place guy in a racer when you're in dead last. Ability to use the editing software to create sidescrolling shooters, sidescrolling platformers, racers, etc... with that only being LBP1, Forge can't touch LBP2. Ability to go questing like in an RPG or have control over the storyline.

It instead cherry picked certain aspects and declared Reach as "putting them to shame", which is my gripe with the article.

Could have been just as great of an article if it just went to great lengths to display what it offered compared to other FPS titles, because there is no doubt what so ever that when it comes to shooters on consoles (which is all I really know) Halo is King, just like how for me LittleBigPlanet is my current sidescrolling platforming king.

Content and execution is what makes them Kings. The replayability of these kinds of titles are almost endless. They can last entire generations and beyond.

Exactly, Halo has nothing on other gneres except the console shooters. How it comes to this guy senses that cross-gnere comparison is viable is beyond my comprehension.

I see and agree about them overcomparing it to other games, as you pointed out other games do better at certain things because that's the actual genre they belong to and not a FPS.

However the Heavenly Sword one is completely moot.  It has horrendous AI just like every hack and slash.  Stupid enemies that are just slashing fodder for your sword and stand around waiting to be hit.  Reach has fully calculating independent AI with no set scripted paths and the abilities to take cover and launch endless different strategies such as baiting and flanking maneuvers.  In fact its so advance at such a large scale that if 5 or more Jackels are in combat together they will band together and form a phalanx with their shields to cover other to fire over them.  That's some damn impressive AI and Bungie is well know for their AI capabilities.

wastting all that time on Kinect when they should have been showing off Halo Reach in detail. MS should be showing this content in comercials. it's called marketing!

this could've been the highlite of E3?

I dont think the writer is being serious with many points  but it does highlight the great range of things on offer in Reach.

It is impressive, I do not deny that at all, the game is the total package in terms of FPS.

@Bolded

Which is why they do not put them to shame.

I agree and I never implied it did.  All I ever claimed is that it puts other FPS to shame.

It absolutely does.

Other FPS will come along that have better graphics and what not, but they will be real hard pressed to offer this much content. It is why Halo sells the way it does and why it's community is active for so long.

Considering how Forge allows for all this stuff like they mentioned, do they have something like LBP where you can browse all different user created stuff and play them?

In my opinion it's just absurd to compare an FPS to other genres, I don't even know what to say about this. I seriously have to doubt if the writer was serious, too. But anyway, when I read some of this points I actually thought that it is a joke, but apparently it's not...

Before anyone tries to bitch me I just want to say: Yes, Halo Reach has an amazing amount of content, but that article is just weird...

Oh yeah every single person you come in contact with in the game has a FIle share.  All you have to do is click on their name in the lobby to browse their File share.  In here people can store Screenshots, Video Clips, Created Maps, Created Game Type Variants, FireFight setups, etc.  Every single person can save up to 1000 of each!!!

Also Bungie will have hoppers you can get to from the menu button with different ways to find and download stuff.  Some will be under labels such as "Bungie's Favorites" or they will be tagged in certain ways such as if you want to find a video clip someone took of just stright up owning noobs you would search under the tag "Killing Frenzy" or Killtacular.

Bungie is simply fantastic and thats just only me elaborating a bit on how to browse and save all this content.  I could go into more depth on every single facet listed on here.

Sounds awesome and 360 FPS fans are in for a real treat.

I can't wait to see Bungie's new IP. Do you think they can surpass or equal what they gave you here?
