Forums - Sony Discussion - Anybody else think Sony should do a 40GB bundle entering the holiday?

Obviously individual shops have their own bundles, but I think Sony should capitalize on the demand increase over the holiday and release an official 40GB bundle. R&C or Uncharted would probably work best personally, both being recognized titles with a bit of hype.

Id say R&C is a title that got swamped by AC and COD4  abit and although it has the hype and attraction, people just havent got round to buying it so putting it in a bundle would remove that problem I reckon.

Just my random musings.

I think they should have 40gb bundled with R&C and add Uncharted to 80gb Bundle

Only if they dont want to make money off those games. If they keep slashing prices and keep giving aways their brand new first party games as bundles, they will never make money.

This year was never about making money for sony, neither will next year. Sony are finally getting a stronger footing in the console war with pretty much equal sales to the 360, but its still suffering in America which is where I think bundles like this will really help over christmas.

They should, to increase demand. At the one year mark, they need to claim momentum now, and make money later.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

I think changing the price/bundle again would only hurt the PS3. Repeated price cuts and/or new better deals will cause consumers to become wary of the product. Why buy the new deal when there will be a better one just a few months down the line? Whether or not the PS3 is at that point yet is debateable, but I would say it is definatly marching head long to that end. They need to just let the 40g sit there and sell systems for a while.

If they want to reach 9 mln. by the end of year, YES.
BUT, i think, they will be fine with 8,5 mln. =))

Every 5 seconds on earth one child dies from hunger...

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

It would be a good idea in my mind, but it probably wont happen. Anyways, if you go down to your local shop you will notice that they are already giving away games with the PS3, in hope of selling their stock.

Entering the holidays? We entered the holidays two weeks ago -- this is it.

the 40g should be bundled with ratchet in the us and with pro evo in europe
