I agree to an extent. A majority of the people supporting this obviously want to fork out a set amount of cash to get unlimited games for free by downloading them. I know there are a few out there that will legitly use this just to have custom firmware, but those are few and far between. The only good thing to come from this will be increased PS3 sales - the 360 is easily modable and some people buy one just to get free games, this was not the case with the PS3... till now.

Good for hardware sales, bad for software sales.

The one thing that really keeps 360 piracy in check is the possibility of a unified XBL ban if you're caught.  Not the case on DS, PSP or wii, and piracy runs rampant on those systems... I dunno enough about PS3's online infrastructure, but can they ban consoles from online access entirely like 360?

I think this is really the most exciting bit about system cracks... PS2, DS and Wii are getting some great localizations from the community, it'd definitely be a boon for PS3 if it had the same.  It's probably the only way PS3 only owners with get to play Vesperia and Graces...

In my opinion this is veeery bad for both the gamers and the gaming industry.

We will probably see a decrease in software sales... and the little ammount of third parties that were going to make PS3 exclusives will probably want to go multiplatform and not use the PS3 capabilities to its fullest because of low software sales :(

A lot of people I know around here that have a PS3 are now thinking of modding it to play free games >_> and a lot of them are saying stuff like "what am I going to do with the 360 I bought a few months ago now?" or "If I knew this was going to happen I wouldn't have bought a 360". It kind of sucks because it's not only those who also bought a 360, but those who only have a PS3 and were getting used to buying legitimate copies of the games are now thinking of doing this :S. This means a loss for the gaming companies :S

I also think the PS3 will be more affected than the 360 by piracy because the 360's strongest market is the US... where people are pretty used to buying legitimate games... but the PS3's strongest market is Others :S where they're more used to pirating stuff :S

Only thing i can say is 360 games have pirated sales and still do crazy numbers.. ps3? i dunno what will happen to their sofware sales seeing as  most never break 5 mill.

It's a joke dude calm down. This hack is here to say.Even if i do pick up a ps3 in the future i won't buy this because i like boxart and supporting companies.And capitalization would do all your post some good.
