Forums - Gaming Discussion - PS3 finally hacked. Good or bad for the gamers?

A software mod that can play piratated games on the ps3 off the hdd is available.

Is it good for the gamers? The 360 was hacked a long time ago,but is still doing just fine.

Will the ps3 receive more hardware sales? Is this a good or a bad news?

PS3 will possibly increase in sales, although it will be a minimal and unnoticed increase.

Sony will lose more money than they currently gain.

I doubt it will be a major thing for Sony to worry about.

its good news. i wont have to pay 80$ for new games.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

this will let me experience games i normally wouldn't buy

i like to do it this way:

i play the game and if i like it,i definitely buy it

this is not for the games i will already buy but the games that i am not interested in but other people recomend and other games

I doubt it will have a very big impact right now - who owns a blu-ray burner? Few people. Casual pirates won't be getting in on this for a while.

Now, the guys who sell pirated games might be a different story.

You download games using the Internet and upload them to your ps3 harddrive.

No blu-ray player and, probably,no mod chip, just a software thing. It could be a hardware thing, but a software mod will be a killer.

It means my friend that pirates shitloads on 360 will probably buy a PS3 again, so I guess I could play with him more often.

Good for cheapskates, bad for Sony and developers.

Also, provided this thing can be used online without detection, and can be patched to keep getting past possible Sony FW updates, I may get it myself and do what Solid said.

if this happens it will boost sales in my country. one reason ps2 was so big here last gen was because of piracy. i have friends who got a 360 just because of piracy.

Sorry, I meant blu-ray burner.

But if it's straight from the hard drive.... well, if you have the bandwidth to be able to handle it, I guess this would be pretty insane.

Looks like the dam has broken for real-real.
