but the decision seems to be a financial one to me.

They want ME3 on PS3, so they are AT LEAST giving it ME2 because apparently ME2 will affect ME3 more than ME1 affected ME2.

This has happened just to set up ME3 to be on PS3 day and date with PC/360


It is a very pisspoor financial decision then, because ME2 itself is a very very mediocre and meh game. If they are counting on people to have ME2 as their first taste of ME then more likely people are going to be disappointed and end up not buying ME3 anyhow. Not only was ME1 better than ME2, but it also made ME2 suck a lot less.  If ME1 doesn't make it over, then this is like pissing in the wind.

Nah, at the start of ME2 you get a pretty good summary of what took place in ME1, and im pretty sure EA will have a data base that allows people to dig deeper into the story on the PS3 if the players want to.

After playing ME2 for a few hours on my PC i felt like i could have skipped ME1 all togeather and went straight to ME2, ME2 carries the story of ME1 over very well, as if Bioware was planning for a PS3 port.


You could literally play ME1, skip ME2 and go on to 3. ME2 will not be all that important in the long run. The whole story is like a giant sidequest.

If it's taking them that much time to publish the game  on ps3 I think they mighthave euther an intense recap, or even maybe a re-worked version of mass effect 1 in there

Well yes and no. As a rpg it's really mediocre game with limited raplayability but if all you want is shooter with very wide rpg elements in it ME2 fits this niche

IMO M.E.2 is about 10x better.

that's why it has the highest reviews of the year? Maybe overrated like GTA IV to you, but to critics it is one of the best games of the year
