There are more of these but Im not gonna put all of em since this is just examples.

Why is it always like this? so vocal then after proven wrong it's like they hit their head hard and forgot they said such things?

same skeptics with Uncharted 2 wont hit 2m.

Red Dead Redemption.

I preordered Red Dead and showed up at my neighborhood GameStop's midnight release. Out of 30 plus people in line, there was only one who was there for the midnight release of Alan Wake.

What do you mean that RDR influenced AW but not HR sales?

heavy rain and alan wake were both ? as far as commercial and critical success.  So it isn't very surprising that people were wrong about this.  Personally, I always thought Heavy Rain would be  a better game but wouldn't sell as well as Alan Wake.  However, Heavy Rain was able to find itself an audience and Alan kind of got flattened by Red Dead.  Not sure what Microsoft was thinking, but I guess Red Dead did better than a lot of people thought it would too.  Either way, Heavy Rain deserves the sells more than Alan Wake anyway.  I think Alan Wake has potential as a series, but as of now I think a lot of it's potential is wasted (or was cut from production!)

It directly effected both games. HR has only sold about 100k more since the release of RDR. But Heavy Rain had a 3 month headstart over Alan Wake and Red Dead Redemption (which led to HR joining the 1 million sales club on the PS3.)

I don't think the head start mattered. HR sales would have been front-loaded anyways. I think there is no escaping the fact that AW sales were a huge disappointment given the long development period.

those comments were hilarious.

I guess it heavily rained on their parade...

ahh the irony, those comments are funny, and sad at the same time. people here have very high expectations.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

They didn't expect to WAKE up on a RAINY day

in all seriousness no one actually expected it to sell that well
