Forums - Gaming Discussion - Can the Playstation Eye already do what Xbox Kinect?

I'm sure kinect is the better camera, but not by a huge extent. Not that it matters because both suffer from lackluster software.

Clearly this is an article written by a moron and posted by a PS3 fan.

I've asked Sony fans to give proof the PS Eye has the same capabilities as the Kinect but they never respond. I wonder why?

actually i'm the one who asked you to show me that "light years away" technology that can't be done on any web cam in existance.

and you only showed me Bowling game and some other stuff that is old news.

don't blame others for what i said.

I hate to break it to you, but you aren't the only one I've had that discussion with.

And they never can show the Eyetoy/PS Eye doing the same thing.

This article is proof you aren't the only person that is completely wrong about this.

But we can hope the Kinect offers games that don't just involve you staring at yourself and touching/avoiding objects.

Well the dance games on the Eyetoy just involved you staring at yourself and touching objects on the screen. That's hardly the same as Dance Central.

I'm not sure what "adventure games" you're talking about.

Pretty obviously not... otherwise there would be no need for silly glowing balls.

I'm certainly no supporter of Kinect either (in fact i'm a supporter of neither, though believe the Move looks to be a more versatile option if it can be used as a pointer (properly, not like the sixaxis "can" be used as a pointer))

and Dance Central isn't also about staring at yourself ..... ?

i'm talking about Kenict Adventure and all the others shown so far, they're all very basic, you stare at yourself and do what you have to do.

Do yourself a favor and have a look at the fitness game by ubisoft and show everybody a eyetoy game as impressive as that.

Oh, you mean like ALL the games shown for the Kinect? Once they get a "core" game on Kinect, you let me know.

No, you aren't staring at yourself. In Kinect Adventures you're actually controlling a 3D model with your body. People point at Kung Fu Live, but that's not a 3D model. It just cuts out your body and makes a 2D image out of it. That's completely different.

Dance Central actually tracks the movement of your whole body. While dance games on the Eyetoy just placed objects around the screen and you touch them with your hands.

The article claims the PS Eye can do everything the Kinect does. But where is the proof of this? Having the same genres doesn't mean the PS Eye has the same capabilities.
