When GT3 was out, there were not that much PS2 systems on the market than PS3 systems are now. GT was never very popular in the states, so don't behave as you Americans are the world. GT5 will do best in Japan and formost in Europe, so it will make the 10 millions for sure.

your first post and already so much hate. gt5 will do best in europe, then in america then in japan. it will be lucky to reach 1 million their.

I read alot here, but never posted. My english isn't good enough for saying what I exactly think. But this time I had to write. The view here is very often way too American-centered. Look how big GT is in Europe. Some pre-order numbers from America have not much weight. Not enough to say that GT is doomed.

What I meant with best in Japan and foremost in Europe: Europe > Japan > America, but proportionally. 1 million in Japan is better than 2 million in America. See what I mean?

i understand and i agree with you. people here had predictions that gt5 will sell 11-15 million those predictions are doomed. gt5 will do just fine, but it wont pass 10 million. people here have high expectations and thats why they say its doomed. you have good ideas, speak up more often, its better then hearing people like bhr.

I also don't think it will make up to 15 million (that would be the best selling GT... that's not realistic when you look at PS3 sales and popularity), but around 10 million life time sales is imo manageable.

12.08.2010, prediction:

GT5 will sell ~10 million life time (after 20 weeks around 6 million, rest with legs).

Sorry, I got Rage mixed up with Black Ops.

black ops also isnt a racing game :P

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

why are people saying japan is a bigger market for GT. I highly doubt the developers and publisher care about which region has higher proportional sales. 1mil in Japan is not better then 2mil in America. People are greatly overestimating EMEAA sales. The only way GT5 has a shot at 10mil is selling a good 3-4mil in America, which is very possible to happen in the long run. But saying Japan is more important then America is just funny.

GT4 only sold 2.81 units in America, but it reached 10 million WW. I only mention this here because I wanted to show that people shouldn't underestimate EMEAA sales.

Out of curiosity, Gran Turismo 5 has legs as some say.

What is your opinion on how those legs will hold up once id Software's Rage is released?

In case you have forgotten, Rage is a FPS/racing game that has won over the critics at 2010 E3, has a teen rating, will be released on PC, Wii, PS3 and 360, and is created from a developer who is widely acclaimed for popularizing the FPS genre.

lmao

ur post doesn't make sense

why are you comparing GT5 with rage

Finally! That's what I mean. The underestimation of EMEAA sometimes leads to ignoring this market or thinking that America = world. Sometimes you should check former sales of a franchise. GT3 sold 14 million. At its release there were lesser PS2 consoles sold than PS3 are now. And as snfr said, GT4 managed to sell 10 million without huge sales in America. So EMEAA is HUGE regarding Gran Turismo. You'll see.

The problem with the comparison to GT3 and PS2 is that GT3 was the first showcase piece of software for the PS2.  It was what many PS2 owners race fans or not purchased to show off what the PS2 could do.  This isnt the case with GT5 and the PS3.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
