Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony Online is working on EverQuest Next , First screenshot here

EverQuest may not be as genre-dominatingly popular as Wolrd of Warcraft, but the Sony Online developed series isn't something to be scoffed at in any way. With two games in the series under their belt the EverQuest devs have just slightly revealed what the third will be at Fan Faire 2010, the annual Sony Online event.

During SOE president John Smedley's community address he discussed some of EverQuest 2's upcoming features before revealing what SOE is calling EverQuest Next (working title). The screenshot above (yes, screenshot) is from said game, which is said to be more of a re-imagining of the series than a direct progression from EQ 1 and 2. Few other details were revealed as the team is very early in development on the game, but we do know that there will be a focus on Player vs. Player gameplay and a more engaging battle system.

I've made my lack of love for MMOs readily apparent almost every weekend, so I'll leave the commentary to you guys. Assume I've placed a generic question about beating World of Warcraft right here.

I live for the burn...and the sting of pleasure...
I live for the sword, the steel, and the gun...

the screenshot isn't showing much , but for some reason it looks like WoW , which is worrying.

i also think MMO's should find a better way to be payed, like make it YEARLY instead of MONTHLY or make it free but with DLC.

outside of the MMO community people really are turned down by the monthly fees, does anyone know that APB was released? that had a lot of hype till people saw the monthly fee....

MMOs cost money to run. Why do so many people want them to be free.

don't people want all thing to be free?

people want it more to be like micro transaction thing

although i don't mind paying the fee but the product should be worth it.

i would love if the Star Wars MMO came on PS3

i want SONY to work with the publshers and make a single MMO fee package in which we can play multiple MMO but single one at a time

my MMO list is

DC universe

Star Wars Old Republic

Final Fanatsy XIV

Agency

Star Trek

Wow,   there seems to be a huge number of MMOs coming to the consoles.   I have to say I am a little surprised by this.  I dont see them ever being as popular as the PC versions.  Not enough players on the consoles for that to happen

Most people would like to play MMO for just 1 month or so before deciding. For most MMO's, except WoW and couple other games, most people have played for only 1 month (what is free with a game) and then have abandoned the game. So either yearly price have to be minimal (around the same price as monthly fees are now) or game will be dead from the beginning. Anyway, you can have yearly payment with practically every MMO, even WoW. You just have a choice between paying 1 year at a time or just 1 month at a time (or 3 months or 6 months etc).

You need to have option for players who only wants to play game for a little while and then quit. Even many WoW players play for few months then quit for few months or even years and then starts again.

there isn't a current PS3 online mmo is there or something like it

i'd like to have some on my PS3 as i only have a lapop that can't handle stuff like that
