Forums - Sony Discussion - LittleBigPlanet 2: The Official Thread

Happy that no more demands are being made to him after his successful adventure to return sharing to LittleBigPlanet, it’s all going swimmingly for Sackboy... That is, until a some kind of inter-dimensional, hyper-spatial, 1800 watt Vacuum Cleaner appears in the skies, causing quite the ruckus and sucking Sackboy up into its musty bowels. All jolly sinister and most inconvenient.

Happily, a jolly nice fellow named Larry Da Vinci intervenes and rescues him from what has come to be known as The Sucker. Da Vinci, it turns out, is in charge of “The Alliance”, a semi-secret, semi-organised group devoted to fighting The Sucker before it destroys the whole Cosmos.

And thus the lovable little Sackboy is swept away on another grand adventure in...

What the Game Brings to the Table

In this new installment of the series, Sackboy has more tools then ever at his disposal.  The game features a revamped and far more robust Popit System, supporting a plethora of new devices and objects, like Bounce Pads, AI Sackbots, and Micro-chips.  The new tools available will allow you to bring your creative ideas to life like never before.

Better yet, the game will feature a much improved search system, making the task of finding enjoyable community levels easier than ever!  Alongside this will be the new Activity Stream, a constantly updating feed that will keep you informed of what levels your friends are publishing, playing, and hearting.  Improvements being made to LittleBigPlanet.com will bring web pages dedicated to every creator and every level created, with information like photos, comments, and leaderboards accessible directly online.  Thanks to such features, you'll be able to browse for any new levels you might enjoy through the website, with the option of adding them to a queue to be played later.

And these much improved community features are very important, given that AT LAUNCH there will be over 2 million levels available for players to dig there way through, as all community levels from the first game will be accessible via the second, with improved graphics and performance to boot.  And for those who spent quite a penny on additional content for the first game, fret not!  All downloadable content for the original LittleBigPlanet will carry over to the second.  In fact, upon first starting the second game, you will be prompted to import all your data directly from the first game.  In doing so, everything from your collected items, your saved Sackboy costumes, and even your current pod decorations will make their way into the second game.

And that's not all!  LittleBigPlanet 2 will also feature a variety of new gadgets and gizmos for all those little Sackboys and Sackgirls to muck about with.   There's the Grappling Hook, an item that will let you swing from object to object, the Creatinator, a mass-producing pistol similar to the Paintinator, and the Power Glove, a device that'll allow you to lift and throw objects within the game.  There are more ways to make your way around LittleBigPlanet than ever before!

Below you'll get just a taste of the many goodies you'll find in the game...
