Forums - Gaming Discussion - IGN: "Our favorite games of 2010 (So far)

Bayonetta is still far in the lead for me. Persona 3 Portable as a runner-up.

Mass Effect 2 is in another league. It just can't be toouched this year. Halo Reach should be really reallly epic to overwhelm it. Second but nowhere near ME2, is Alan Wake... and RDR of course.

The top 3 games of 2010 are all on the X360. Red Dead Redemption, Alan Wake and Mass Effect 2.

I predict either Deus Ex 3, Versus or Gears 3 for GOTY next year.

ME2 isn't even as good as the first. Its so linear and the overall plot is a bore., and the rpg elements have been striped out to the point where its barely playing lip service to the genre. Its not as good as Dragon age and certainly not as good as older wrpgs. Certainly not GOTY material... or maybe saying it is GOTY material with todays standards would be more insulting.

Or as others would put it, "one big recruitment," while Mass Effect was a real RPG with cool bosses such as the Thorian, Benezia, and Saren.

Still though, I think Mass Effect 2 was a well produced game. Top notch production obscuring the fact Mass Effect 2 feels like one big Mass Effect 3 prequel by getting the crew member recruitment out of the way so Mass Effect 3 can focus on the war with the Reapers.

Personally, I think the originality of Red Dead Redemption gives it the GoTY in my book. It is much more than "GTA on horses." Hell, Red Dead Redemption is better than any GTA game to date because it takes all the negatives minus melee combat and turns them into positives.

My top three so far are Super Mario Galaxy 2, God of War III, and Pokemon SoulSilver, in that order.  I'm currently playing Peace Walker, and it's really good as well, so we'll see where that falls.

Super Mario Galaxy is clear and away the winner for me at the moment, but from what I've seen, I think LittleBigPLanet 2 will be my overall GotY in the end.

Next year my eyes are on the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, the Last Guardian, and (if it comes out) Uncharted 3.

This year so far, these are my top five:

1. Super Mario Galaxy 2

2. Dragon Quest IX

3. Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver

4. Tatsunoko vs Capcom

5.  Bioshock 2

Im with the Bayonetta crowd, such an amazing action game
