Forums - Microsoft Discussion - This is what Kinects insides look like...

That really is quite the piece of hardware isnt it!

That pic with it in the hand shows just how large and expensive looking this thing is.

I hope they realize that they can use Kinect for things other than casual stuff, because the hardware itself seems impressive.. but thats slightly off topic.

̶3̶R̶D̶   2ND! Place has never been so sweet.

On topic: the real kinect picture looks like kinect has much more stuff in it than I thought it would have, but by hell is it massive lol

They need to open up the SDKs so I can finally develop my home defense sentry gun.

A little snippet:

The Kinect's size and shape is dictated almost entirely by the 4 microphones located along the bottom. It has to be precisely that large to accommodate the mics and the exact positions they need to be in. The mics, and their placement, is the result of research in 200 homes in the US, Japan and Europe. When you buy a Kinect, one of the first things you'll do is calibrate the audio to fit the room it's in. It's creating an audio profile of the room, mapping out the room's reflectivity. And if you majorly re-arrange your furniture, you'll have to do it again.

This thread title reminds me of Scream the movie. Hey Cindy! I wanna see what your insides look like...

Wow, that is pretty damn cool.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Not at all what I was expecting.

4 mics array, exactly like the PSEye

That's quite a bit of electronics packed in there!

Four mics and motor? I would have expected two mics and no moving parts. Certainly helps explain the price tag.
