not surprised... this game had NOTHING going for it..not a damnthing

this game is not bad when I played it in Japanese lol, the VO really matters.

where did i say it was bad? It has NOTHING going for it..is what i said, and in this era you need to have something tat stands out about yuor game. ARF had none..very genric the full 360 degrees

That's pretty much all JRPGs this gen o_O.

well most games are largely generic but even some of the ones that end up being average in quality had something new and unique like Eternal Sonata's setting that would lend one to hoping for something great.  And some even ended up great like Resonance of Fate or Tales of Vesperia.  But ARF was never really a game to me that I had high hopes of being great, it was more in the line of Tinity Universe where I was just hoping it wouldn't be terrible.

well then at least you got what you wanted lol, it's not terrible, there is somebody working on JP VO mod already and the JP VO is good overall.

Seriously...

Voice over is sooooooo not important.

Yeah luckily for me neither TU or ARF ended up terrible, they just have aspects to them that are bad to terrible but are counteracted by other parts.  Sadly neither ended up getting up to good in my opinion but I always keep the hope alive for the next JRPG on my list (Atelier Rorona if you were wondering).

It's unfortunate that the localization for ARF hurt it so much because there really is more of a low 7 game in there somewhere but with the localization it got GT is pretty close to what I'd give it.

...

lol. sounds like it's a bit difficult to play the game even if you get passed the VO.

Not surprised.  All reviews, regardless of score have called it a super generic, if competent, JRPG.

I knew it would be bad when I saw that imageepoch were developing. I don't think I've liked anything that they've done so far.

Yeah the game seems to be kind of crappy. Bad graphics, bad voice acting, endless grind... not exactly what I expect from a good title.

oh yes it is.

Aren't consumer reviews most of the time better than "official' reviews?

If you're looking for high scores rather than justified scores, yes. Users are more likely to score things high to justify the money they spent, especially if the game is bad.
