Forums - Gaming Discussion - ps move set to outsell kinect

kinect will fail but not fail badly they will just have to forget about kinect

kinect is at a stupid price for 129 pounds and move is only 40 pounds

sure kinect does not not require any controller but that will be a problem especially if u need to go toilet and need to pauuse the game.God knows how you can pause it especially that you have to use motion in the first place plus they need to start thinking about the real gamers nearly all the games are either rip offs of another game[example being kinectimals which looks and plays a awful lot like nintendogs]and games which would make you look like a idiot plus they are hiring the non ideal companies to make them,:for example rare which in my opinion are doing a absoulutely bad job at making games for the xbox and the xbox 360 [i wish they would go back to nintendo] i even heard that bungie are refusing to make games for the kinect i dont blame them neither

but i could be wrong, maybe the kinect might be a success maybe 129 pounds is a good price maybe rare might do good for once at microsoft and maybe games which will be probably for the real gamers only time will tell but n my opinion it looks like the kinect will fail

When you read that, it is quite interesting. The survey deals with those who already own the Xbox 360 and the PS3 and whether or not they will get Kinect or Move.

So less of the Xbox's user base plans on buying it. Which I'm sure is fine by Microsoft. They are looking to expand their marketshare, not sell only to their current userbase. Their current userbase is hardcore, and Kinect is aimed at casuals. The findings there do not surprise me.

The Move is aimed at the hardcore, and the hardcore own PS3's. So the findings there also do not surprise me.

I agree cause all games shown for kinect seem more like they were geared towards the wii sports or the wii play audience while the ps move had one or two hardcore titles to go along with the sports champions game.

If Move outsells Kinect in UK, I'll eat my hat.

There is absolutely no chance of this. Move is not making any buzz noises here. ( excuse the pun ).

This will not happen in the UK where the 360 dominates the PS3.

I was not impressed, except for a couple of things, by Kinect. The move, on the other hand, is intriguing...........somewhat. I am definately going to wait and see. Both companies have enough cash to support these endeavors, unless they completely flop. I don't think either will flop, but I don't think they will have the commercial success that each company hopes they will. They'll both do ok. Which one will do better OK?  Probably the move. Why? It's cheaper. If the Wii was $400, I don't think that they would have the market share that they do. Money talks.

To be fair, the full Move experience will cost considerably more than 40 pounds. Several games seem to require atleast two Move controllers (or atleast for the full experience), most people will need to buy an Eyetoy, and the Navigation should be necessary at some point. Ofcourse you'll need more Move controllers for multiplayer.

In a nutshell, if you only spend 40 pounds you aren't getting the full Move experience.

No, you are getting one expensive paperweight.

In all seriousness, these posts on Kinect vs. Move is akin to old men arguing about an upcoming military conflict. We may have suspicions on how it may turn out, but we will be proven wrong once the battle gets underway.

It is easy to ridicule the Kinect, but don't forget it is one piece of equipment, while the Move is at least 3 (assuming one player only with the Navigation Controller, Eye and  Motion Controller).

If the Move Motion controllers retails at $49.99 a pop, then the Move has the potential to be a lot more expensive than the Kinect. Do the math:

1. Kinect $150 standalone (maybe $200 if you have a non-Slim 360 model and you pay to make your 360 Kinectable).

2. Move will come at $99.99 for the starter kit (eye, motion controller, and navigation controller), then $49.99 for each additional Motion controller (dildo looking controller). For 4 player capability, I can easily see the price of the Move at $250 (starter kit plus 3 additional motion controllers at $49.99/controller).

To be fair, as soon as I read the title I was dubious anyway. When I saw this based on UK? I laughed hard.

PS3 slim is having a hard time just floating here. Let alone, Move outselling Kinect. Move releases first and already it has less floor space than Kinect in UK.

Kinect will outsell move. Easily. Very easily. Even if you consider, that you have to buy more move controllers to play multiplayer and just one kinect.

And the Nowgamer survey was based on 100 people. 100 people (!!!) are not enough to make an educated decision.

If the 100 people were chosen completely at random than 100 people is more than enough to give an accurate idea (to within 1-5%). Almost certainly not the case here (chosen at random), but for future reference...

Actually it is not. 41 million userbase / 100 sample is not enough.

you do the maths. I study this nonsense.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
