Only an 8 to the holy grail of racing? You crazy. Why don't you like GT?

It seems the unanimous decision here is that GRID and DIRT 2 are the best racers. I think both are on PC, which means I could get to play them with great grafix plus a racing wheel.

Play them, though in some ways I did find DiRT 2's lack of focus slightly annoying, too much variation especially as I don't like trucks, but it did convince me that I made the right decision getting it ahead of Split Second, Blur and Shift

The interesting question with reference to WRC is how it stands up with GT 5 incorporating rally into it, and with DiRT 3 around the corner

I do... a lot, lol (except HD Concept, which was pretty crappy). How come guessing it'll be 3-8 means I don't like it?!

Everything that's 8 or higher on that list is an excellent game imo. Everything below 14 pretty meh. The stuff in the middle 'good'.

Oh u mean in ranking order? But don't you believe it could top your list?

The Gran Turismo, WipEout, Burnout, Need for Speed and MotorStorm franchises (and of course unforeseeable new IPs) all potentially could. I had so much fun with GRID though, and that was in large part due to a mix of handling, damage modelling and physics that no other racing franchise combines in quite the same way.

I know what you mean, it just felt so right in every way and the flashback feature was genius

The carnage round the first corner in a full online match with damage turned on is always an awesome experience :D

Unfortunately, I never got to play much online given that it was on 360... But with trophies I can get DiRT 2 on PS3 and then I can play online!

I didn't realize Codemasters were so good at making racers. Forza and GT is dominating all the talk so I got the impression that everything else is either crazy super unrealistic arcade style or plain bad. I read Machina's review and was surprised about GRID having good graphics, lots of damage, true physics and good AI.

 I have to check out GRID and DIRT 2, at least if I get a racing wheel. And I hope F1 2010 will be good!
