Forums - Sales Discussion - Sony Overships Ps3 by ALOT

I said it first... They are overshipping and people arent buying that much... Desperate ?

Comparing these to actual sold US (NPD) and Japanese (MC) numbers, either this is a case of Sony overshipping a lot or PS3 is doing way better in EU than anyone guessed. In US PS3 did ~630k and in Japan ~250k in this time which would put EU numbers to around 1.5 million.

So EU becames BIGGER than US and Japan Together ??? Sounds like Sony BS.

But i dont play sales so idc ... What u guys think ?

I think that the PS3 has been undertracked to some degree. You cannot overship because shops will not take stock that they dont need. By the way it is very hard to track europe. Extreamly hard. Thats why no one does it. Plus NPD is North America alone. What about south America?

Japan does not = Asia

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

Bit of both probably, some undertracking and some chanel stuffing

When do you guys learn? NPD is just USA, so no Canada and no middle- and south america. And the 2.4 million units is SHIPPED, so not sold. Let's say they actually SOLD 2 million units, than that means that outisde of USA and Japan, Sony sold 1.12 million units. Is that SO hard to believe?

And sesriously, overshipping?

PS2 gets outsold by the PSP, 360 in NPD, japan, Europe but still outshipped them both, In 2010.  There more markets outside of these 3 places you know, while we focus on them more because we get numbers doesnt mean the world is made of 3 places.

Although Playstation is the most popular console brand in Brazil (it is almost a synonymous for video game) Sony dosen`t ship any PS3 to retailers. All PS3 consoles are imported.

I think the same thing happens in the rest of latino america.

Like I said in other thread. X360 is supply constrained everytime and Sony likes to randomly produce PS3s. Very interesting the way some of you guys think.

Sony is currently producing PS2s in Brazil, Argentina and Mexico if I'm not mistaken. There has been a wave of official PS2 lauches some two years ago in Brazil and Latin America.

If not Argentina, then at least Mexico and Brazil.

PS2 is not produced in Brazil nor Argentina, may be Mexico. But yes, PS2 has been release officially in Brazil ... 7 YEARS AFTER THE REST OF THE WORLD!!!

On the other hand Microsoft sells 360 since 2007 and the major games have been translated and dubbed to portuguese.

Sony could have made Brazil a PS3 stronghold but it lost the PS2 momentum.

Difference between  Sony and VGC is much (2.3 million). Too many console manufactured and not distributed (many gifts or tests?)
