Who here has watched Superman / Batman Apocalypse?  It came out yesterday, and was pretty good.  Not "under the red hood" quality, but I'm more of a batman fan.

I may go bankrupt next week (10/6/10) why is this list over $40 dollars:

Batman Hidden Treasures #1 $4.99
Batman Odyssey #4 $3.99
Bruce Wayne The Road Home Batman & Robin #1 $2.99
Bruce Wayne The Road Home Red Robin #1 $2.99
Chaos War #1 $3.99
Deadpool Pulp #2 $3.99
DeadpoolMAX #1 $3.99
Shadowland Spider-Man #1 $3.99
Ultimate Comics Thor #1 $3.99
Uncanny X-Force #1 $3.99
Wolverine #2 $3.99

Total: $42.89

Too many good comics.

Comics are just too expensive at the moment, £6 on 2 comics is not good. There is a reason I'm only getting 3 ongoings and 1 mini at the moment.

Hmm, pie.

GET THE FUCK OUT!  IT'S OUT ALREADY!?  I'm buying this today!!

Oh, and I finally read "Maus".  It was amazing (especially the first book).  I'm net-flixing Schindler's List (can you believe I never saw that movie?) and watching documentary after documentary on the Holocaust as a result.  Powerful stuff.  I can't recommend that comic, enough.

I always hated comic books...When I was young I read the X-men and Spiderman and loved it at first but I hated that you have to read the end of a story in an other comic franchise..

I read a few though now like Halo/mass effect and The Darkness but for the rest I gave up...

I see where you're coming from.  For some people, it's fun to see how the different characters interact or that all of the characters live in the same universe (first time I saw Wolverine hanging out with the Fantastic Four, my mind exploded!).  For other people, it's just frustrating.  You buy one series and never get to see teh end of the storyline.

I suggest buying "trades" that contain entire storylines (or at least, the gist of  a major storyline).  It's what I do.  I don't have the patience to collect week by week, anymore.

I hear ya on the trades but there's nothing like having a bagged and boarded first print/near mint.

I agree. I have a few TBP but nothing beats having all the issues. I just started collecting again and I have all the issues (Not all first print) of X-Men Second Coming. The Hardcover just got realeased but doesn't have a few of the spin-offs such as Hellbound and Blind Science with X-Factor.

And you know, you're right.  Half the fun of comics is the speculation.  You read 22 pages and for four weeks, you speculate what's going to happen next:  "How is Batman going to get out of that explosion?"  "Red Hulk ISN'T Bruce Banner?"  "Oh my God!  I can't believe _____ was a traitor!"  And when that next issue comes, there is a huge payoff for the patience.  Buying trade, it's sorta like asking Santa for a Christmas present and having him give it to you right then and there.  Sure, you get what you want, but that's not really the point.  Plus, when I buy a trade, a lot of the time, the big reveal is already common knowledge.  Half the time, the character who died making the story so powerful has already come back!  That's why I usually buy trades that are timeless (Like Kingdom Come or Daredevil Reborn).  Recent storylines move too fast.

I wish I could get back into buying comics every week.  I just have too much going on.

DC delays Bruce Wayne's Road Home. I went to my comic shop yesterday and the owner tells me that they weren't in, maybe next week. I'm guessing if that happens the rest would be delayed as well. Cuase if they release them all next week that would be five issues @ $2.99 a pop. Too rich for my blood with all that comes out next week.

Has this thread died? C'mon where are my comic book fans? No one has had anything to say with NY Comic Con over now?

I don't read the latest comics, because they take some time to reach my country. I am waiting for:

JLA 44 and 45

Blackest Night 4, 5, 6

Superman Secret Origin 2

I just finished the new krypton saga (new kryptn, last stand, war of the supermen), it was fun but needless, everything was back to normal and nothing was drastically changed.

I have an ever-growing pile of books I need to read. I'm about three weeks behind now (around 20 books). I have most of them at home but I still need to make it to the store to check on last week's shipment.

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/
