The DS doesn't have a bad D-Pad, or it has one good enough to at least play Tetris well, so I don't know why we assume the 3DS would have a worse one.

The only DS I had was the 1st gen fatty. And that had a terrible Dpad for 2D fighters. Almost as bad as the PSP I have. You jsut can't do any of the Z pattern movies to save your life...

I remember playing GBA version of SFA3 and  SSF2T  an 8 hour flight to Europe and being frustrated to the point that I decided to watch the on flight movie instead.

I actually manage to pull off whatever moves I want to on the PSP version of SF Alpha 3 (and now that I think about it, the GBA version on my DS, too!) so I think we're in good hands.

@d21lewis

Hell even the IGN review says PCP dpad is shit - http://psp.ign.com/articles/687/687893p2.html

"You will most assuredly miss more fireballs and uppercuts than you're used to, and in that regard it's very frustrating."

"Aficionados will have a few issues with the way it controls, mainly due to the design of the PSP's D- PAD, but overall it works fine."

I think people have lowered their expectations so much, that they don't mind them any mroe...but compared to Snes, genesis and saturn Dpads...these portables Dpads are horible.

The 3DS is gonna be a big step for relations between Nintendo and third parties.

If that was the launch PSP, the revisions fixed that.

And the DS revisions are also much smoother than the clicking d-pad of the first one.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Cool. Then there is hope for us 2D fighter fans after all!
