Forums - Sales Discussion - The 360s sales thread. Following the gaps.

Ok so here is the current gaps for the year and the totals. What I'd like to do is see how big the gap to PS3 gets and how quickly and see how small the gap ( may ) get to Wii and how fast over the course of the rest of the year.

2010 sales:

WorldWide Totals of LTD:

So we can see that before the 360s launch the gap to PS3 was 4.8 million. Now it is 5.3 million.

Also the 360 has gained 200k on Wii since the launch to.

With the 360 rising .3% in marketshare.

I will keep following the 360 progress through the year in this thread.

Cool beans.

When do you think we can expect the next xbox now? I expected it announced at next e3 and out by 2012.

But with the way things are going, and if Kinect is a success, I think 2013 is the earliest MS is going to want to release the next gen console.

Good Topic... just kind of sad with ur bio... Kinects ? -.-

Hmmm. If this continues, M$ would be smart to wait. I'd say if this keeps up throughout the new year, Sony may have to jump first whether they like it or not.

Hell yeah 360 owning :D

The Wii just keeps on losing marketshare every month now, I'm really excited to see how the three will perform this holiday season, can't wait for last quarter numbers!

The 360 Slim is a tremendous success in the Americas, no one can deny that with five consecutive weeks above 100k, what I wonder is how it will fare in other regions after a similar amount of time?

Agreed.  Japan is lost to the 360, and Americas are (comparitively speaking only) lost to the PS3.  The "REAL" battleground is "Others" and will provide the most interesting race I think.

For me this is particularly entertaining as while I play my 360 more, I have no real vested interest in who "wins" or "loses" the battle for 2nd.

I doubt that will happen. Sony has a lot of wiggle room when it comes to price... If they only started making profit on the hardware few months ago they have ways to go till price is the magical 199.

Id like to see Xbox 360 viable in the market for a while, and I think MS can do this with Kinect, dashboard update and xbox live for many years to come. But at the same time i'd like a new console sooner rather than later... lol

Wow the gap between the PS3 and 360 for this year is getting a lot closer.

Definitely an incredible success for Xbox with the slim launch. But if everything goes as I predicted, then we'll see a steady drop in sales from the Americas. However the Slim has just launched in Europe, so it will either hit a peak or drop steadily but at a slow rate. Now all of these steady drops will stay true till the Slim arcade launches which will boost sales. By how much, I do not know. The big kicker is Sept. with the launch of Halo Reach which will move a large number of systems. Predicting 5 million will be sold in the first month alone.

Buuuuut, don't count out Sony and Nintendo just yet. I'm pretty sure they're not going to let MS go on a winning streak for long. Now for what cards they're going to play is another question entirely.
